I have some Wisteria that has roots coming out of it all the way up the stem along with the leaves. Is this because it is trying to get a nutrient that it isnt getting? Do Wisteria plants just "do that"? As an aside I know that it also sends out new stems in a similer fashion (This thing is like...

They are very knowledgable about plants and have a fantastic show tank in the Amano style.
Dont worry too much about it. Think about all the people that run around with CO2 tanks while playing paintball. I have a 5lb CO2 tank on my 72gallon tank and I would have to try VERY hard to knock the stem off of it. (like smash it with a sledge hammer).
That said.... IMHO pressurized CO2 is...
Just wondering if you tried this? I have been thinking about it myself... the wife made me promise that it cant see into the house....she doesnt want to be cought naked on the web ;)
I use a Vortex XL on my heavily planted 72g. I have never had any issues with the fish or the plants due to its use. As a matter of fact I find the fish tend to enjoy swimming into the current. I also sometimes put a vacum tube on the input and vacum the tank with it. I tend to run mine for a...
I got the tank at a place called Airweld in College Point, Queens.
The reg,the ph controller and other goodies are from aquatic supply on ebay.
Thanks for all the info I will pick up the coral tomorow..... yikes I mean later today.
:coffee2:
As I perviously mentioned I am uploading a couple pictures I took on the day that I set up the co2. Hopefully I will post more in a week or so and we will see much better growth. Basically this is for other newbs that might be curious about what adding co2 will do for them.
OK next question...
I have a Red Sea KH/GH test kit. In testing KH it says:
Get 6ml's of tank water in the test tube.
Add 1 drop of KH indicator and mix.
The Color should match the starting color of the card.
Keep adding 1 drop at a time and checking the color until it matchs the end...
I have the Coralife quad. 48" It has fans but I have never heard them, nor have the lights emitted any noise at all. The may be out of your range but the single strip that dxq mentioned is probobly similer in terms of sound output.
Thanks again all. I went with the 5# as I mentioned but since cleaning and rearranging the space under the tank I see that I can in fact fit a 10#. I figure that next time I will swap my 5# for a 10#. Time for my next few questions.
Can the entire milwaukee probe go under water?
When I...
Thanks for the info everyone. I picked up a CO2 tank and I am looking over the setup. I got a 5# tank because I dont think I can fit a 10#. Any body have an idea of what the tank pressure should be in psi? This one reads about 60PSI. Also if I use the packet of calibration fluid do I toss it or...
Am I correct in assuming that "pearling" is when the plants get those little bubbles on them? Is that an indicator of somthing good? I see it every so often on the leaves of my plants but I could never understand where it comes from.
Neat idea. I think I have read similer designs. I have a typical fluval 404 so I am not sury if the gas would just get trapped inside causing the impeller to go dry. In your picture to you have a diatom filter plumbed into your line? How does that work for you? How often do you run it? Do you...
Well it goes like this...
I have a 72g bowfront and when I acquired it, it had an 80w Flourescent fixture over it. I was able to grow some low light plants with success but it seems that I would have periods of high growth and then an almost stagnate non growth period and often accompianied by...
