what kind of lighting do you use for your terrestrials?

This setup has a HO T5 fixture with six 48", 54-watt lamps, although I usually only have either two or four of them switched on.

Very nice tank my "cuate", I really like this set up. I used to collect those wild guppys and endlers and who knows what else, when I was a child in the rivers of my state. I miss those days. Again really nice tank, even tho you think is a "mess". hehehe I wish I could have a messy tank like yours.

Thanks naliel. This tank and the fish gives me nice memories of being down in Mexico.

Really if you saw it up close you would see that it is a mess. I just need to make some time to go over there and clean it up and reorganize the plants again.

Hey all I have a quick plug. If you are really bored please have a look at my recent sales thread. I have some similar plants and also the riparium planters in the offer. It has just been sitting there...

You can see the bottom edge of the Tek Light fixture in that last picture. It's about 12" or so above the rim of the tank.

What area of Mexico did you collect all that stuff? I may have an opportunity in the future to go to an area that the Indians own that has a lagoon area. I have some connections and may be able to work it out with the Indians to let me go out and collect a little and havent been able to find much info on the local flora and fauna.

Once again. Beautiful. You are a master at what you do.

Thanks!

I got the fish in an area of Jalisco about three hours from Guadalajara. I acquired all of the plants in various ways here stateside.

Be aware of laws about collecting in Mexico. They require a federal permit to collect anything. You also need to get an import permit from the USFWS if you wan to bring stuff back across the border. Your contacts down there might be able to help you with the Mexico permits.

Ya the permits and all will be taken care of before I leave. No point in getting my hopes up beforehand.

I will be going to a place in Michoacan. A little further than halfway from where you were to Mexico City. Almost due east.

Yeah that is definitely the best way to get that permit--to work with somebody down there.

Hey you should be able to find some goodeids in that area. Those are just about the coolest group of fish. I know some other folks who have collected goodeids and other stuff down in that area and I might be able to ask about good spots to look if you that would be helpful at all.

Hi, beautiful tank! and very unique concept in a world of amano iwagumi clones.

I have one question, how on earth do you keep the part of the tank glass that is out of the water so clean/clear. Do you wipe them clean before taking the photos? because usually humidity/condensation water vapor etc..would make them very fuzzy looking.

Thanks so much. There is no condensation on the glass of this tank at all. It is open-top, so air circulates freely around it.

I do have a high-humidity riparium setup with crypts, Anubias and ferns, and that one does usually have condensation on the glass, especially during the winter when the room is warmer than the air inside the tank. For that one I do have to wipe the glass dry for pictures.

Thanks so much.

This setup has an xP3 plumbed through the bottom of the tank.
