125g bulid thread

So I got the lighting done today, the lights are great. But one the bulbs were broken. The tank is very cloudy from the flourite and the sediment is driving me nuts i am hoping that the waterchanges will take care of some of it. I do think I am going to run a DIY sump, can anyone give me a good setup plan.

So i have started all the plumbing for the sump, I have got a 1350gph pump on the way, I am going to be using a old 55g tank for the sump. I just have to find a way to get the media in the tank. I think i might just use rubbermaid tubs to hold the media then drill the tops and bottom of them. If anyone has any ideas please help with them.

It sounds like your plan should work. :) I like your setup thus far.

Ok after having the crud this weekend, i got a lot done on the tank. I will have to get some pic but here is what got done.

  1. Moved all the plants
  2. Moved all the fish(balas suck to move just cause they jump)
  3. Moved all canister filters(just to seed the tank)
  4. Searched for my assassin snails
  5. found my assassin snails
  6. moved snails
  7. set up sump
  8. got everything running
I did get my replacement bulb in for the lights, installed just have to finish the tank to put the light back on the tank. Had to run the CO2 right next the pump so it can be used to diffuse the co2.

Puleeeeeeeeeeze go get that camera into action!!!! I wanna see!!!

WOW! Nice! Love your driftwood and the substrate! The fish look very pleased too!

Ok so the tank went down hill very fast after a algae outbreak. Everything is starting to recover, I am redesigning the sump, to work the trickle out of the system. Also I am raising the standpipe to try to kill the surface agitation. the new sump will get rid of almost all gassing off. I will get new pics when everything else is done.
