150 Gallon Build Thread ... From the Start

I'm gonna say if you have the space for the 210 go for it. It would be a dream to plant one, saddly I have neither the space, money or to be honest the patience to do such a project. If you got that fully planted it would be a perfect discus home for about 7 to 9. Not to mention the armada of small schoolers you would have.

Thanks Matt - I am about out the door to go and see Marcie. I called and asked if she was there and was met with "the quote I gave you is no longer valid." Wow - seems like an uphill battle (lol)!! See what I can do - it seems to get tougher and tougher to "give" people money these days (lol)!!

Hi, cfsinc if you want to go with the 180G why not try 210G? :) I got mine from a local lfs who ordered from all glass, cost me $400, Apparently they have a sale one a different size tank every week or other week. I kept on checking with the lfs waiting for the 150G but the 210G came up first. ,The mission stand and canopy cost me $900, the size is 72LX28HX24W. I just made a bid mistake and rushed into putting it up instead off doing my research so now its a little more tougher for me to get it nice and planted. but I am working on it. BIG thanks to BK, and DrVader and Riiz:)

Aqua your tank looks great... I have major envy over how massive the entire setup looks! Any updated shots to share? :D

Coy... this is great stuff! We're all waiting for an update :D

Back from the LFS where I saw a 210 in person. The tank is just massive - way massive!!

Below is a pic of where the new tank will be placed (on the right where the sofa is and the pics go away). We kinda' think the 180 and 210 with their 24" in depth (front to back) just come out into the room too far. Agree?? I know it's hard to tell from a pic, but we have got out the trusty tape measure and the 180 / 210 just seems to take over the room (almost as wide as the sofa and 3/4's as deep).

We feel the 150, although only 18" from front to back and perhaps a bit more of a challenge to plant, would certainly be a better "fit" for the room. It would be a bit more of a "sleek" design, if you will, and round out the room nicely!

Thoughts?!?

Also, Marcie at the LFS is supposed to be emailing over pricing on the tank, stand, and canopy (150, 180, and 210) later today / tonight. She was very pleasant to deal with (her rep was there and put his 2 cents worth in - very helpful also). I will pass on the info as rcvd. BTW - also have a call into a couple of other stores for pricing (not as easy as one would think to give money to people - it simply amazes me!!).

BTW - you can get the Aqueon All Glass tank with "black" seams (only the rep seemed to know this). It's a special order and takes 4 weeks. He agreed, as did Marcie, that the Flourite Black / Black Gravel mix with black seams, cherry wood and a heavily planted tank would be sweet!! Just like we suspected (lol)!!

Anyway - that's up to the minute - more to follow shortly!

Thanks for participating!!!

From 125 to 150 to 180 to 210... I love it man! :headbang2:

Not sure about it taking over the room... I only know that a 210 gallon planted discus would be ridiculous sweet. If you can afford the price difference and as long as the wife is on board, go for it man! You don't really care what the room's perspective looks like do you? :D

Coy, for your third tank, I'm thinking a deluxe suite for an Arapaima gigas....

These bad boys only need around 1000 gallons. The cherry stand will probably have 12 doors on it, but I'm sure it will fit along the wall in your living room :D Before you ask about lighting possibilities, here's my recommendation as a few of these should do the trick....
