150 Gallon Build Thread ... From the Start

The stand and canopy are such a "huge" portion of the cost of the entire project - I think we should take a serious look at building our own. I am more than confident I can build a very nice looking stand / canopy for a great deal less than $1,400 - way less! Plus - look at all the pics that would produce (lol)!!

Bk is right.... IT'S ON! LOL

I've built things over the years but for that 'furniture' look I have no confidence in my personal ability to make a piece that I would want in my living room.

FYI, I worked with Glass cages last year regarding a large tank. their suggestion was find a dealer that would order it for me special order. not one in the area. (I live in Washington State)
the shipping was cost prohibitive. they did suggest acrylic(I passed)
they don't do shows nearby as other other elective was to order the tank and pick it up at the show. big savings cost there.

I am going across the street tonight and make a visit to the neighbor with the wood shop in his garage! :thm::thm:

I'll be taking a trip to the LFS tomorrow to get the 150 with black seams ordered and take the "exact" measurements (they have a display model in the store) so that I can get started on the stand and canopy!

Coy, I bougth my tank about a year ago.
Where in Oregon do you live?

Just thinking maybe you can call around and if any lfs has a tank in stock it would probably be cheaper and it might be worth the drive.

I took a trip to Albany, OR from Spokane, WA yesterday and picked up a nice nitro boat:) sometimes its just WORTH the drive:)

We live in Salem. That is a great idea. However, the drawback we see is that we really want to get black seams and would doubt very seriously that a LFS would have one in stock. Thanks again for the suggestion and getting in on the thread!
