20 gallon community tank

you could but i'd be worried about the betta attacking the guppies, males with their bright flashly and long tail fins might resemble another male betta. i'd go more along the lines of your orginal stocking in a 20L: (1) betta, (3) frogs, (7~12) neon tetras, or cardinals as i find them much more attractive (6~12) cherry shrimp, (1) bristlenose pleco and if you want (2) bamboo shrimp.
 
Male Bettas will often attack any fancy guppies that are in their tank, and when a betta attacks it generally kills. So no fancy guppies.

Neon tetras will often nip on a bettas flowing tail, it looks like food to them i guess.
In any case, they aren't very good tank mates.

It's simply trial and error. Depending on the tank size, neons may or may not nip.
 
So if I get the neons a larger tank, the probability of nipping will go down?

And with a 20G I can get a Bristlenose Pleco and about 10 neons?

And if you put it all together: $151.96

Wow, this is an expensive hobby. But since my birthdays coming up, I should get $200 so I should be in the clear by late March.

Yes on both accounts.
 
If I get rid of some snails, woul I be able to get some otos? (2-3) Or will the Bristlenose pleco attack the otos?
