20 long reef build

ill look into that, i did a WC today and before i tested
PH- 8.0, Kh-10 Gh-10 Ammonia-.25 NO2-0 NO3-0 C-350 P-0

I may feel silly after asking this but what is "Gh"?

Growth Hormones?
Guitar Hero?
General Hospital? :)

umm, general hardness, im not sure if i need to test this with Saltwater, but with African cichlids it was kinda important

Ah, sorry. Yeah, not that commonly tested.

The big 3 are magnesium, calcium and alkalinity (carbonate alkalinity).

ok i was thinking in the future when i have more corals of getting a MG test kit with a strontium kit. spelling?? they both are kind of expensive. what levels of them should i look to have. i have heard that in a reef you would want C to be at least 400-425

400-450 is the range you want for Calcium 420 is avg ocean value.

1200-1400 for mag, 7-9ppm for stronium, 8-12 dKH

awesome. how should i raise my C i use IO reef + salt

You can dose kalk to raise calcium but if your doing weekly water changes you should be ok unless you're planning to have a lot of sps.

If you plan on a reef, I would switch to Reef Crystals for only a couple bucks more. The latest formula is pretty high in alkalinity. As TL100RSquid mentioned, I doubt you will need to dose alkalinity or Ca much at all if you are doing regular water changes. Cerayinly not until the tank is stocked a bit with corals and they start to grow. Maybe some Magnesium now and then. I find my LPS start going south if Mg dips below 1300.

i am using the reef crystals, and 2x weekly WC, i could do just one a week. No sps just lps, leather, shrums,
