29 Gallon Asian River Tank Thread

So All I have lighting the tank atm. Is a blue/white panorama. I feel like I need one more white LED Stunner Pro Strip and one Blue LED stunner pro strip(for color and nightlight). What yall think? will this be 2 much light?

You're in Goleta? Im in Ventura and just started an Asian River Tank... lol.

I'll be starting my thread soon, it has stiphodons and asian rummy nose and is 40g

awesome tank man!

I go to TATs all the time... ive got 4 pair of stiphodon percnopterygionus and about 35 sawbwa resplendens (asian rummynose)

I have a big Eheim cannister filter (can't remember teh model) and one Rio 80 powerhead all creating flow... im using a mix of flourite sand and gravel as substrate and have a bunch of crypts planted in the back of the tank away from the major flow... I have a bunch of rootwood and river stones separating the plants and then have a mix of dark to light gravel and on the far end of the tank away from the powerheads I have sand so the stiphodon's can burrow... I"ll post pictures later this evening in another thread...

^okay sounds good. Ya I woulda done some sand but I just havnt gotten to it. My stiphs make caves in the pebble substrate and they have caves in the wood. How do u plan to have enough algae for ur stiphs? cause they consume alot.

there's a ton in there... i had a huge bloom and now they can't keep up with it... i have a lot of surface area... i talked to yiu hung at TAT and he said to feed heavy for a little while and have a really long photo period. I am running lights 2 WATTS/gal at around 16 hours a day... I just cut back on feeding and am cutting back on the light starting this week to a more normal photo period. they're fat, happy, healthy and displaying great color already.

no... i have a few pond snails and ramshorns that were probably tiny or eggs on my plants when I added them. I just remove them. Im not planning on any shrimp because I don't want them competing with the stiphodons... at this point the only thing I'd add are more pairs of stiphodons if that...

Its your tank so u can do whatevs. But dude you have 40g. Thats alot of space, Idk how much algae your growing but I have. Stiphodons, Algae eating Loaches, Algae eating shrimp, A large False Siamese algae eater, Algae eating snails. And there is still plenty of algae to go around. My whole backwall is covered. Also if its an ART(Asian River Tank) those snails violate ur title :evil_lol:
