315G Plywood Tank Build

Enjoyed the vid, Ive got the paint on the way. They'll ship it when the weather warms. Can't wait!! Scott told me that I wont need silicone for the glass, I would be very nervous to forgo the silicone.

Great job, man!

I installed a viewing window on the side of my sump and just used the pondcoat. So far, no leaks. I also tested some pieces of glass and plexiglas with pond coat by attaching them to a piece of wood and you cant get them off without breaking them. I have a feeling you can seal a tank and glass with the pond coat. I did silcone in my glass and am currently painting over the area from the glass to the frame with pond coat. The pond coat does not like to stick to silicone right off the bat, you need to apply it a little heavy and convince it to stay put. Tomorrow I will apply several more layers.

Right on man, thanks for the heads up I should have my paint by Thursday. What knapp roller did you use or did you brush it on?

I decided the best way to apply the PC was to brush it on and then use a foam roller to smooth it out. I just used a small 6" foam roller. Oh, cleaning the brushes and rollers is not worth the effort. Buy cheap brushes that you can throw away. You can get the small foam roller in a 6 pack. After the first coat over my silicone the rest went on great. I have about 5 coats over the glass seam and will add another one tomorrow. I am hoping to fill the tank next Saturday.

Thanks for the heads up, headed to Lowe's for wood puty for the outside of tanks, and gonna continue to sand. How much time did you wait to apply next coat of PC?

I waited until the previous coat turned black. PC goes on brown and dries black which makes it very nice to apply. As soon as the previous coat was dry or real close to it I applied another coat.

Spent this evening after work rinsing out 300lbs of sand in the snow! As much fun as it sounds like it was.....it wasn't! Oh, and pre-rinsed sand isn't.

My pumps came in a day early so Iran back to Lowe's and picked up the return hoses and required fittings. Willfill it on Saturday.
