40g Breeder Journal

*dreams of a bazillion habrosus cories* :thud:

Doo eet! Msjinkzd can totally hook you up!! :dance2::dance2::dance2:

The 2nd one scares me because it is too much like this stunner of a tank!

Of course I am NOT comparing my tank to that one but that one sets the bar pretty darn high! I don't know if I need that much of a challenge just yet.

That's pretty close to what I was imagining... love how the rock & wood is interwoven and accented w/the moss. The double focal point is awesome - lends a real sense of depth to the tank!

I can see this done on a simpler level... bare black sand w/large rounded river rocks towards the front & around the "roots", mosses all over the wood and vals along the back of the tank with crypts or blyxa - like an old tree stump/root next to a riverbed. :grinyes:

Well THAT tank was a first place winner in the aga contest so don't get your hopes up! I think I want more of a "shove lots of different plants in the tank and see what grows well & I like" type of tank first then move on to a very specific layout tank.

I like the second setup best.

lol when i first saw the pics i thought the towel was black sand :P
Well then the towel served it's purpose well. :D

Msjinkzd has been out of habrosus for months now. :( I check all the time!
Great visual description! Sounds great, I am still figuring out what I want out of this tank though.

NOOOO!! :( My habs and I will cross our fins/fingers respectively in the hopes you will be able to get some cute teeny butt-wigglers soon!!

I really need someone to bounce ideas off of to achieve my best results & no one in my life wants to hear anything related to fish, for the rest of their lives!! :o

Well, I guess before I can choose a hardscape I am going to have to actually think about plants, layout and fish. Too many options though!! :nilly: After I pickup my potluck of plants from Starstruck I will at least know what plants will be going into the tank, right now I don't even know that. :)

No one wants to hear me talk about fish either hahah. I do have a ridiculous amount of plants to give you! You are getting the plants left over from going from 7 tanks to hypothetically one. Most of them seem to be fast growers too. :grinyes:

Thank you! I want them so badly.

OMG! I am going to be WAY overflowed with plants, your main tank (75g) is nearly twice as large as my biggest planted tank.......Maybe I will have to setup more tanks. So much for my downgrading plan! :D
That's why AC is here. :)
I do love my AC!

Nice substrate!! Is that the Flourite Towel?

Why yes it is, good eye! I love it so far, no rinsing, easy coverage and it doesn't cloud the water at all!

I am so jealous! That is exactly the size tank I'd love to get for the apartment. I'm going to go make some popcorn to go with reading the thread.
