I have already planned that, I will definitely do it on a weekend, as I will..........

-take all fish/plants/inverts out and put them in in a big 50 gallon + container
-take out 75% of the water and put it somewhere(i need to get a new large trash can)
-then I'll take out most of the gravel
-i'll take out filter intake/outtake and heater and bubble disc
-take off light
-put all the filter stuff in buckets with tank
-put gravel in buckets
-empty old stand
-move old stand and put in new stand
-put tank on stand
-put gravel back in, reattach filter intake/outtake and put heater back in with bubble disc
-put 75% of old water in, and put 25% new water in
-replant
-restock
-put filter in stand, and fix hoses, etc. and turn it on
-put lights back on and turn them on
-i might put on a marineland 350 bio-wheel to help clear tank up for a day or 2
-stock new stand with supplies

I estimate that the changing of stands will take about 12 hours +/- 2 hours, so I'll start at like 7am so I'll have extra time in case it takes longer

I am probably building the stand with this link, I think I'll make the dimensions 52"X22"X36" so that way I don't have to stand on a stool to do things inside the tank.

*I'll start building in after testing in 2 weeks. It will take about a 1 week to build I think, my dad is helping me and paying all expenses as he said this dresser could hold the tank and sadly it cannot properly hold it so he has to fund this or he can buy a new stand.

how do i sex gold rams as I am going to purchase a female, i know what a male looks like but I don't know exactly how females look

Pics of DW!!!

I decided to go biking on a trail next to my local creek, and guess what, I found some really nice pieces of DW, they were already broken and sitting in the creek, so I picked them up, and brought them home. They are huge(40"+) and I will cut them down, I really like the one that twists.

Couple Things!

1) I don't know what kind of wood they are, and they are obviously dead.
2) R they safe to use in my fish tank?
3) How do I clean them?
4) R u sure they are safe for my fish/inverts???

PICS

*BTW, 1 piece has no bark on it, and it smooth
*some parts r darker on the wood as it is still wet

Both Pieces

Boiling and scrubbing them with a wire brush is the best way. If it's soft anywhere dont use it because that means it's rotten. Also if it is pine or any soft wood don't use it.

^, K, thanks. I'll try that, do u think any of the pieces of wood look like pine?

The second one maybe. I can't be sure though.

That second one reminds me of a twisty pine limb..hard to tell, don't know how common they are in the area you are.

by the 2nd one, do u mean the twisted one, i also think that is pine, so is it not good. There are a lot of pines in my area.
