-- 90 Gallon Build Thread --

Gaaaa I love all of the fish soo much. My favorites are prolly green terror and fire eel though. As for the silicone, all I know is it has a picture on the front of it of an aquarium lol. I'd rather be safe than sorry though.

The fire eel will grow to over 3' but the GT will be fine with one or two other similar size and temperament cichlids and maybe a pleco.

Well, if it has a picture of an aquarium on it, I'm guessing it's made for aquariums. GE I is what I use (GE II is the mildew resistant kind).

For the heater, DON'T get a cheap one. The thermostat in them is more likely to fail than in a nicer brand and when they fail, it's usually in the "on" position meaning if you don't catch it in time, the fish will be cooked.

I'm a fan of Visitherm Stealths

Yeah, I am going to get a jager 250w heater... I think Im going to get a pleco/catfish, fire eel (will get bigger tank when it gets too big), ghost knife, green terror, texas, and a brazilian eartheater.

As for stocking, I'm pretty sure its going to go something like this:
Green Terror
Firemouth
Jack Dempsy
Ghost Knife
Fire Eel
Banded Leporinus
Paratilapia polleni
Jaguar catfish
(plus or minus some)

i wouldnt put all of those fish in your tank. a 90 gallon really doesnt have that much space. the BGK will get to big, so its probably best to skip that one. the GT and JD may fight in such small quarters, so you may be better off sticking with one of them.

for filter i use several fluval 404's and have no problems. i use 2 filters per tank i use a main filter like a fluval 404 and a HOT magnum running the water polishing cart and have great results.

I'd fill the tank with water and bleach. If the algae doesn't go away with a light rub of your finger after a good soak, it has most likely grown back under the seals...a sure sign of a re-seal needed.

Well, I took off the old silicone on the sides, but left it on the bottom and now I think I am going to begin the resealing process. It will be fine not to take all of the silicone off right (the bottom silicone)?

You have to take ALL of the silicone off including the bottom, new silicone will not bond to old silicone. You will also have to remove all of the residue left from the silicone with white vinegar.

Ok... good to know. Also... on the sides if I run my finger across I can still feel silicone, butI can't seem to get it with the razer.. Should I somehow get it or am I just being paranoid?
