ABOUT CLAMS

There are of course many ways to approach this hobby but I really don't understand going against the advice of experts like Daniel Knopp when it comes to things like caring for clams.

On the hammer and it's sweepers, they'll come out when it is hungry or if it gets a lot of flow.

Don't believe everything everyone tells you as facts. Especially in this hobby. Always get at least two opinions...or at least make sure you get an opinion from someone you trust.

I won't comment on the clam. I wish you the best luck with it.. and I really mean it.

I will just second subliminal's comment though... Be careful when you dose iodine. Just slight overdose can make your coral close up for weeks, and I am speaking from multiple personal experiences. I don't touch any of that stuff anymore. They say it's good for your shrimp and crab to molt properly, but I feel like the cost of mistake is way too high... As a matter of fact, there still is a debate on whether or not dosing this in home aquarium is even necessary. Also, are you using Kent iodine by chance? I always felt like their dosage instruction was WAY too much...

Just a thought. Not saying don't do it. Just giving you a heads up to be careful.

I'll third it. Many reefers don't dose iodine and instead use a good reef salt instead.

WELL I GOT A YELLOW CORIS THAT SWIMS AROUND PART TIME HE COMES OUT AROUND 2 AND HIDES AT 6 WITH LIGHTS OUT. BUT HE LOOKS GREAT. THE CLAM IS STILL DOING GOOD.

are the CAPS completely necessary? lol

i take it you don't have a cover on your tank?? what i did is get some eggcrate and cut it so there is an are for the lights to shine through, otherwise it acts as a shade... just spray paint if black then too to help the reflection...

or maybe just a glass top...

or maybe just no more carpet surfing fish...
