My thoughts: 1 pair is adequate for a 45, especially if they're paired. If I were you, I'd round up the excess males and give/trade/whatever them.

like squawkbert suggest..look at the sex organs(ovipositor)
you guys are crazy, my angles are fine in the 45 gallon in the 75 gallon i am sure theyll be quite happy. if i could find maybe 2 full grown that i know for sure are female i will add them to my tank, and it will be a big happy angelfish family.
