Advice on new tank plz.

Indeed. Kribensis is a Cichlid... easy to keep, but aggressive and nippy. Your poor gouramis would quickly lose their fins! Not to mention they grow to be about 3-4 inches. They'd take up too much space. Same for the common pleco. Do some research on each of your fish before you make any solid decisions on stocking your tank. Knowing that all your fish will thrive in a similar pH and water temperature will make keeping them MUCH easier. It makes it more affordable on you, since you won't have weak or failing fish that get sick or die off frequently and have to be replaced.

You may have to pay more for a smaller type of plecostomos (sucker fish as you called it), but it'll pay for itself in keeping your tank clean of algae and extra food and in not outgrowing your aquarium! The cheaper route is, of course, corydoras. They will also clean debris from your gravel or other substrate at the bottom, but they aren't as keen on cleaning up algae as the plecos are.

And I agree on buying for quality. As someone who always ended up buying the cheap stuff when I was a kid, I notice a HUGE difference in the quality of the more expensive and durable brands. The air pumps are quieter and more powerful, the filters don't break down as much, the heaters are more precise and last longer. So I agree. Take the time to read up on people's suggestions for better equipment and shell out the extra dough. You'll be thankful you did!!

Good luck and enjoy!!

Get the smaller pleco. I have a large and they limit your space when they get bigger.

I just had to redecorate because the pictus and him were fighting over a cave and the pleco was winning by a mile.

thanks

Thanks for the advice there guys. I have a 10 gallon tank at the mo with an eco-therm submersible heater and a tetratec easy crystal biyo wheal filter. The fish in there at the moment are two guppies, two kribs, a gourami (she seems the queen of the tank at the mo) one rosey barb and a few harlequins oh and and two zebera danyos. I know it is a bit over stocked but they seem to be doing fine. All the little squables for teritory have died down now. I have had it a few months and no fish have died. I just have to do regular water changes so that the amonia levels do not become too high. I really want the Kribs to mate. Would be well cool.

Don't buy a low quality heater to save money; it is the one thing you should splurge on quality.

Recommend the Aquaclear filters, quieter and more reliable, IMO.

Drop the kribs, keep the Gourami to one dwarf in that small of a tank, get some corys for the bottom, not plecos.

I agree.:)

:help: Hi im just about to start a new tank (a 25 galloner) and am gunna use it for tropical fish so i would like some advice on what heater to get and what filter.

I would get an AquaClear 70 for the filter and a 100 watt Marineland Visi-Therm Stealth Heater.

new tank

i just started a first tank of my own and have learned somethings. I bought a penguin filter with a bio wheel quiet works great but maybe buy one a rated a little bigger than your tank size. also purchased a tetra wisper this air pump works GREAT nice and quiet lots of air. these things are important but more important is that you get a good water test kit and get a gravel vaccume for water changes and cleaning. If you are starting out get some tuff fish like danios and some clouds they will help establish the tank and are hard to kill. i know they mite not be your first choice but trust me you dont want to be a mass murder. :P
