Indeed. Kribensis is a Cichlid... easy to keep, but aggressive and nippy. Your poor gouramis would quickly lose their fins! Not to mention they grow to be about 3-4 inches. They'd take up too much space. Same for the common pleco. Do some research on each of your fish before you make any solid decisions on stocking your tank. Knowing that all your fish will thrive in a similar pH and water temperature will make keeping them MUCH easier. It makes it more affordable on you, since you won't have weak or failing fish that get sick or die off frequently and have to be replaced.
You may have to pay more for a smaller type of plecostomos (sucker fish as you called it), but it'll pay for itself in keeping your tank clean of algae and extra food and in not outgrowing your aquarium! The cheaper route is, of course, corydoras. They will also clean debris from your gravel or other substrate at the bottom, but they aren't as keen on cleaning up algae as the plecos are.
And I agree on buying for quality. As someone who always ended up buying the cheap stuff when I was a kid, I notice a HUGE difference in the quality of the more expensive and durable brands. The air pumps are quieter and more powerful, the filters don't break down as much, the heaters are more precise and last longer. So I agree. Take the time to read up on people's suggestions for better equipment and shell out the extra dough. You'll be thankful you did!!
Good luck and enjoy!!
