It looks as if your coming along nice mooch.

The skimmer you chose was a good decision. I would have purchased one if I found these first. They’re a counterpart to Euro-reef. You can modify it to recirculate and also add a bigger pump to knock up the performance if you’re getting a bigger system.

You’re not as limited, and it will be more stable if you get the larger aquarium. You can always push that. The draw back is the expense.

Well, the only extra expense id have is more rock, and maybe a bit more sand. But rock im buying used, and will look for something in the range or 1-3 bucks per pound. Other then that, everything else i have will be fine. Skimmer should be fine up to 120 gallons. I have two 150 watt heaters. Will have roughly 13x turnover, but powerheads can be upgraded when ever i go SPS.

Im pushing for the 120, as long as price difference is not to much between that and the 90. Id hate to get something smaller then regret it for a couple of hundred bucks. This will after all be my dream tank so........

Way to close to the water and enclosed in a canopy, you will have a major heat problem, as far as water temp goes, let alone evaporation. I'd say 8 to 12 inches away from the water and fans pushing across the water in and out to dissipate heat will be needed.

Ok, so maybe retrofit would be my best option then?? That way i could place the reflector right against the top of the canopy, and have bulbs atleast 7 inches away from wter surface. Or am i still to close?? Also, will i get salt creep on bulbs?

Is lighting going to be a problem here.

Maybe i should leave the canopy, and just get the tank and stand. Ahh but the canopy looks so nice. Maybe t5's??

:p:

LOL, I prefer MH especially if its a 'dream tank', nothing beats how MH makes the water ripple just like sunlight. Think about building a hood, put the mh in the top (higher) and some tubes a little lower in (2) front and (2) back with 2 fans blowing across the center and out the side through a grate or grill or slats in the hood.
Boy, tank planning is fun :) (Be better with lots of $$$$ however lol)

Ok, well the mission tank i wanted above is WAY to expensive, and not really practical for MH.

SOOO, im going with a 110 gallon Sedona tank. Tank dimensions are roughly 48 inches wide x 18 inches deep x 29 inches high. Add another 8 inches for canopy.

So bascically if i get MH, i'll be roughly 10 inches away from water surface and 39 inches away from bottom of tank including distance from water surface.

So, im guessing i'll need two 400 watt pendants?? Would it be possible to get away with two 250 watts pendants on a tank that deep??

Ok, sump has arrived. Here is a pick after Dee put it all together for me. Not including the skimmer, pump, sump, baffles, tank, plumbing cost me $220 canadian for a 30 gallon sump. Not bad at all, as a sump this size would normally cost 400+. The only reason it didnt cost me much was because i recieved pump free, and tank free. Tank dimensions are 29 x 18 x 14. Pump is rated at 1200 GPH.

Enough talk, heres a picture with ASM G2 sitting inside!!

nice sump...
2 x 250 mh and some actinic pc or would do nicely :) I think 2 x 400 mh might be too much unless your planning all sps and lps.

I plan on going all SPS and LPS in the future. So im guessing 400 watts is what i need for a tank that deep.

Another thing, how the heck do you reach into a tank that deep. Im a short guy at 5'9. :D

Stool, here i come!!

Even with a stool, you'll probably need some tongs to get to things on the bottom. I need to get some tongs myself... I'm about 5'9" also, and can BARELY reach the bottom of my tank (which is 24" tall), but it's a real struggle to try and reach all areas.
