Another Failed Stealth Pro Heater

Let me add that of the two old regular stealth heaters I do have, since they have been running this winter I have had to readjust the indicator knob twice to bring back down to 78F as the temperature kept creeping back up to 82F. I know have to keep the knob setting between 72F-74F. This while both my old Visitherm 300's and new JEBO 300's adjustment knob indicators are spot on.

Just went to feed my oscar and noticed he didnt come up to the surface when I opened the lid which was odd... Stuck my finger in the water and it was frigid cold! The temp had dropped to under 70 degrees. My 300 Watt Visi-therm pro refuses to kick on anymore, ive only had it for 2.5 weeks... I talked to marineland and they are sending me a new one.

add me to the failed marineland stealth pro heater owner list. I bought this piece of junk because the old vis thermal stealth worked reliably, but apparently can no long trust this brand.

Got it less than a year ago, winter is finally here, my heater is set at 84 degree, middle of the night my temp monitor alarm goes off, check the temp, it's 72 degrees sigh. And the light on the heater is still green....

So far no fish dead yet, i am keeping the heat on in the living room (where the fish tank is) 24/7 even at work until i get a replacement heater.

Looking at the fluvel e series, suppose to be the best right? certainly the most expensive.

i haven't had heaters in any of my tanks in over a year. love the fact that i live in an apartment where heat (hot water baseboard pipes) is included in the rent. and i'm a heat junkie to begin with, lol, so having my place at 25 C all the time during cold weather isn't an issue at all. even my lil 2.5 gallon stays at 79/80 constantly.

when i used heaters before i found the Elite brand ones to be very reliable. i have a few of them kicking around still, just in case the apartment heat should fail and i have to put heaters in the tanks.
this is what they look like:

I think you should try these babies, I bought a pair and they work great and for only about $16 each and 300 watts, how can you go wrong.

my solution was to try a few (just ordered) 100w heaters for my 29's.

ordered from Ken's....trying the deep blue, pro heat and the visi therm dlx
the most expensive was $16.49

the newer pro is still working form me but I thought back ups are good to have.

I just bought one of those heaters last night thinking they were a good investment.
wish I had seen this first, now I'm stuck with a heater that sits 5 degrees cooler then where i set it >_<

hopefully I can get either a refund or a replacement.

After my water change yesterday both my 2 stealth are running 5 degrees warmer while those new Jebo 300W heaters are working spot on. So fare these $33 per pair Jebo's are working great, easy to adjust with the biggest longest knob I ever seen and nice brite neon indicator and large temp display.

i had an older visi therm, the glass one, for several months before i sold the tank and accessories away. it was good, no problems with it at all.

i have an eheim jager heater 50 watt size that has been running no problem for like 3.5 years now. i unplug always before water change. never an issue and tank water is always stable. works like it should.

and before that i had a 200 watt theo heater for 3 years that worked perfectly. never an issue besides the outside paint coming off, but that was nothing really.

i think heaters are expensive investments for this hobby and should be treated with respect and care. that's my secret for all these heaters- never had one explode, melt, or decide to quit. maybe i'm lucky though, but who knows?
