Another Failed Stealth Pro Heater

Just got a Stealth Pro 100 Watt... I'm a bit terrified now.

Anyone know if the 'j' product codes explode/have issues? Should I try and return this? I just got it on Sunday, it has yet to be used...

I forgot to write the code down on mine, but I remember the letter was "E".

I was dealing with the sick fish when it shocked me this afternoon. It was back at the store in under 10 minutes.

~~~~EDIT~~~~
Forgot to mention that when I looked at the bottom the seams had given way, and the plastic was warped. I'm really glad I caught it when I did and managed to get my money back on that one >_>
Add me to the list. On my way to the store to replace it now. Turned the adjuster knob back and forth and it kicked back on but I don't trust it now. Guess I'll get the Fluval even though the black color of the Stealth is easier to hide.
Buy Jebo 300W glass submersible. At a cost of $15 each shipped you can afford to be terrified lol. Mine work great!
Just got back from the big box petstore with my Fluval submersible heater and guess what? It's not fully submersible. Is it just me or would you think all aquarium heaters would be partially submersible and therefore if it says "submersible" on the package that it would be "fully submersible"?
Won't fit in my tank without cutting a place in the top's fill strip so back to the store it goes. Unfortunately everywhere is closed tonight so I hope my Stealth will hold out for 12 more hours. I turned on my secondary 10,000 k lights for awhile so that might help.
It's always something, and it usually happens when the stores are closed.
hmmm...
double up
always have a backup
split your wattage in two and share it
...
good rules to live by in fish keeping in general, especially when it comes to heaters...
Also don't over-task your heaters, a small outside hot tub these days doesn't hold much more water then a 200 gallon aquarium yet requires many more times the wattage of a rated aquarium heater to heat one to just 80 degrees becasue the ambient outside air in winter is so tasking. Point is rated aquarium heater is only designed to heat an aquarium 10-15F degrees max at most against the lower outside ambient temperature. A 60 degree house is pushing a rated aquarium heater in a glass aquarium beyound its limits not giving the electronics a chance to cool between cycles of on and off. So what you end up with is a heater that cooks itself to death in one season. IMO for a home ambient temperatures of 65 degrees or 15 degrees below a target heat of 80F, you should have twice the rated hater wattage for that tank size and double that again for every 10 degrees lower, if you don't your heaters will keep failing fom cooking inside.
The best way to deal with this is to never let your home temp to fall below 70F by opening all the shades during the day to allow radiant and UV energy to be stored inside the house like a battery, then at night shut all the shades and set the furnace to 70F. If your house is modern insulated this will actually save you money over depending on aquarium heaters alone.
I had a stealth that wouldn`t shut off when it was brand new I sent it back and fosters sent me another ..I have two of the earlier models and two of the later ... If I have to dink with my heaters I will never buy another marine land anything. Those air pumps that look like the space ship .. I had to send two back they stopped pumping on one side and would of liked to buzzed you out of the house ... I have three of the Emperor 400s for a year now and they seem to work but two of them came missing parts which rendered them useless untill the company made it right ..The penguin 150 filter I bought sits in its box ... Worthless even on a ten gallon tank ..
