anyone wanna take in a fishnerd so hes out of his current living condition?

I thought the military won't take anyone disabled or suffering from health issues?.
Have to have good genetics and need little sleep right?. Otherwise it does seem like an option.

The army website actually doesn't say much about learning disorders. Honestly, if all the doctors have told you is that you have a 'slow learning disability", I doubt it is too serious. Don't let labels like that hold you back.

Anyway, here is what I found that might help.

Possession of a high school diploma is desirable,
although not mandatory, for enlistment in any component of the
Military Services.

Overall aptitude requirements for enlistment and
induction are based on applicant scores on the Armed Forces
Qualification Test (AFQT) derived from the Armed Services
Vocational Aptitude Battery.

this.. Perhaps joining the military might be of some help..structure, discipline, etc..

:iagree:

At least go and talk to them. They will either say no you can't join then you're no worse off then now or say yes you can join and you're set.Do 20 years and you get full pension. Wish I had done it.

See if you can get Navy or Air Force, less chance you'll end up dead.

I'm quite sure that a "slow learning disability" wouldn't cause you to be rejected from the military. There is always something that you can do to serve our country, if that is the only diagnosed disability. There are always other training options if that doesn't work out-- the key is that you have to WANT to receive training.

I teach post-secondary students with "slow learning disabilities" every day, and they end up with jobs in the trades making three times what I do as their teacher. How does that work? They WANT to learn because they see it as an investment in their own future, so they will do WHATEVER it takes to master material-- even if that means writing things down twenty times until they memorize the material. A little off topic-- but I hope it is encouraging nonetheless.

Thanks, Bio, but it's 100% true, and I am not being critical here. I am speaking from 20 years of experience with this very thing. Good luck LBF. It's like in Field of Dreams-- "If you build it, they will come."
