Robert,
I am SO glad you stumbled onto this discussion and I really welcome your input --

Where are you getting these names? Most of them are not even listed on APs site, even in the section "coming soon", which has been there for several months. Why are you looking for those in particular? Some I have even never heard of.
I'm not surprised some are not heard of, I can't even find pictures of some of them
I gathered the names doing research on Papua New Guinea and Australian flora. Some of those plants, like like
Aponogeton bullosus, I read have either never been propagated sucessfully or were never brought back from their native habitats. Trouble is, I don't really know which ones because there is differing information in that respect.
I have (finally and just yesterday!), found a picture of
Aponogeton bullosus. Now, I'm sure that that plant is not available -- but I must interject that some of the plants that I read were not available are listed on the AP site! -- but at least I have a picture and can find something that looks as close to it as I can.
As to why I want them -- Papua New Guinea biotope. Here's a quote from the email I sent to AP:
". . .Three of the plants in question are Marsilea angustifolia, Hydrocharis dubia and Limnophila aromatica. I'd also like to know if you were planning on Aponogeton bullosus or Isoetes sp.?
The plants I am searching for are the endemic ones found in and around the Ajamaru Lakes system in Irian Jaya, specifically Lake Sentani and Lake Ifanten . The closest I seem to be able to come to a plants list are those found around the the Sepik River area in Northern Indonesia."
I assumed the plants I did find that you had listed were for the biotope section you were putting in. Which, by the way, I think is an AWESOME idea -- so long as it's just not cichlid or amazon stuffs only
There are more common variations of many of those plants.
Common variations are fine if the real ones cannot be had, however I want them to look as close to the real thing as possible. Thus explains my search for a picture of the elusive
Aponogeton bullosus:
My mission is to source an
Aponogeton that looks as close to that as possible.
I actually carry in stock more unique plants than anyone else on the internet.
No argument from me there! Best selection I've ever seen on the internet, hands down.
Can you tell me when the "new arrivals" will actually be in stock? I've 3x75g tanks to fill with wondrous PNG-type plants over the next few weeks. It's also entirely possible that others on the Rainbowfish Mailing List may be interested as well.
