I told you at the time that I would be embarrassed to send plants that minuscule out to a customer. I would have waited until I had better stock to send.

But I gave you twice as many as you paid for! And I have apologized I don't know how many times. This is what I do, all I do, and all I will do for the rest of my life. So ten YEARS from now are you still going to be saying the same thing here... "I had a bad experience with AB back in 2001"... It was also a Cryptocoryne as I remember, that was a special import, not a regular stock plant. One of those "rare" plants.

Bigfishes, thanks for your support

Robert H,

Well, I was confused. For some reason I thought you were posting as being from AP, not AB. Ergo, please ignore my post parts about the biotope section that you are probably not putting in :) Sowwy!

Moving right along --

If someone asks me for my opinion and/or my experience with a product or site, what am I supposed to say?!!?
I thought what I said was mild. I let it go years ago, but still have to relate my experience if asked.
I think you'd be better served to let it go as well.

I did ask and Len did respond and I appreciate it. I wanted to hear *all* opinions, good and bad.

Now, Robert -- can you get any of those plants on my list? I've been a good girl, Santa, really!

I think Lens comments were directed to me. Len, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, and I have a lot of respect for you as a hobbyist. I have enjoyed reading your posts here for years. But my point is it is like you are holding a grudge for something that happened a "long time ago" in your words. And people did not ask for your opinion on my business, she asked for opinions on aquariumplants.com. You made your comment along with Dave's without the footnote that this happened a few YEARS ago, and you constantly bring this up in this forum and others any time my business comes up in conversation. That is not a very fair representation now is it? Even if your's and Daves comments are completely justified and I greatly wronged you, do I have the right to change and make things better? Do people have the right to come to their own conclusions without being prejudiced by your comments? That's a rhetorical question, please do not feel the need to respond.

Just to set the record straight. The shipping policy requires a signature unless it has recently changed. I do not work in an office and my wife's place of employment does not allow her to recieve packages. Additionally, since no verification of shipping date is given, no one really knows when the plants will be there. Mine showed up a full week after my account was debited.

Thats all true. And is fully stated as such on my WEB site and always has been. Special arrangements can be made ahead of time, not after the fact.

The real issue was dead plants, small plants, and missed plants on the order. When I sent an e-mail, the reply I got was basically one of pretty hefty insult, and a claim that you had no idea who I was.

So you were upset because of the reply you got from an email where I did not recognize who you were? That is very regretable. If someone emails me out of the blue without identifying who they are or the order in question, date of the order, etc, I have no idea who they are or if it is a crank or what. I can not imagine why I would have purposely insulted you. It is real easy to mis read the tone or meaning of an email.

I didn't know who you were if that is what I said. Why would you reley soley on email if you had that serious issues? Why not call me? Did it ever occur to you that I may have never gotten that email, may have been lost, deleted, or maybe I did reply to it and you never got the email? I get hundreds of emails every day. Email is the most unreliable form of communication out there. This whole thing may have been just a simple mis communication. If I had talked to you on the phone it would have been quickly addressed.

Roan, I am sorry for hijacking the conversation. Truly biotope native plants are rarely available in the hobby. The only plants that are available commercially are those that are grown commercially either in the USA, Asia, or Europe. What is "rare" in this country may be common in Asia simply because of availability. From your picture, Aponogeton bullosus looks something like A. bovinianus, but looks almost identical to Cryptocoryne crispulata var balansae. I have glossostigma. If you look at my site, all my imports are either listed in the catagories or under specials. www.aquabotanic.com

Good company. Run by Sheri and Hope. Sheris Father started the business over 30 years ago. They used to be a wholesaler before they started the internet business. They have a lot of good common stuff.

Robert, we can take this discussion elsewhere, and probably be more functional with things. as said I am Open to resolution, and will post accordingly if things are resolved. The shipment did not go according to your stated policy, which further compounded the issues I have with your shipping policy. I was in contact with you beforehand, and did find a way to work with your stated policy. I have no issue with anything that was done as the website said it would be. My problem lies with the things that were not done according to the website stated policy, and with the overall quality of the plants. E-mail is the only dependable form of communication I have. Telephone calls are difficult and time consuming, and have the additional issue of time zone differences. I am required by my company to check e-mail at least twice a day, and it is usually done while most folks are still in bed, or after most folks have quit and gone home. I can and will call you (despite the inconvenience), and Hopefully we can work things out. Your reputation for excellent plants, and good service was why I worked so hard to find a way to order from you, and the dissapointment was multiplied because of that.

I have never bought plants over the internet, I guess that I am luck that there are local fish stores that carry plants. I thought that I was nuts for driving an hour to some stores. I guess I am lucky to have the stores. I notice that many of the plants offered from the online stores are avalible local. It is hard to justify $20 shipping for common plants and not being happy in the long run.

I did buy my CO2 system from aquariumplants.com it was hard to contact by phone, but when I got someone they were helpful. Shipping did take longer than expected, but i am very happy with the system and could not purchace one local.

I think that it must be very difficult to make a living selling plants since it is a nich market. It sound like the online stores could make customers alot happier if they found a way to provide better communication. If I am paying $20 for a box to be shipped to me I would not want a substatution or an incomplete order without my approval.

Funny how this thing turned out to be mostly about aquabotanic.com and not aquariumplants.com. Complain all you want. You'll end up in a circular conversation with people saying good things about AB, negative things about AB, and then moving on to customer service.

Both these sites produce good products and plants. I think most people bad mouth their experience more with AB and Robert, because Robert tends to more vocal and opinionated. His responses usually leds to a back and forth, of generally negative/positive remarks from both him and other buyers.

Although his customer service might be slightly above par, his plant quality, and products are good, if not great. Same goes to Aquariumplants.com. The fact that AB is no longer substituting plants in plants orders, means that he's listening and improving his service. Aquabotanic.com has redesigned their site to be more user friendly too.

You'll have good and bad experiences with both companies, and others. It's the nature of the Internet Business, and mailing live goods.

AP has plants listed that I want. Rare plants. I want them :)
I'll pretty much pay through the nose if I have to. I. want. those. plants :rant2:

I'm going to start calling them 5 or 6 times a day and see if I can get anyone on the blooming (pardon the pun :joke: ) phone.
