Are ghost shrimp killers?

Your atypical experiences can be marked up to the fact that LiveAquaria may not, in fact, exclusively offer true Palaemonetes paludosus or similar. As true FW ghost shrimp are remarkably passive, you likely have some sort of juvenile Macrobrachium spp.
As I already posted earlier in this thread, I do not have Macrobrachium. I've done the research and mine do not resemble Macrobrachium at all. They are ghost shrimp.

ive seen them eat headless culls from my fry, but it takes them forever. i doubt they be able to take down any healthy fish. perhaps these fish that the shrimp are "killing" are merely dying then being fed upon.
The fish I posted about is alive and swimming quite happily atm. Nothing wrong with it. The only thing wrong with it when the attack happened was that it was new to the tank and stressed from being a FedEx parcel for 25 hours.

My shrimp are definitely NOT Macrobrachium. They have normal sized arms, do not have large pinchers, and have no other color on them at all. 5cm, btw, is about 2".

Here's a picture of one of my platy babies with a male ghost shrimp in the background. Best picture I can get atm.

Actually, these look to be members of the supposed "Macrobrachium lanchesteri" complex (through accurate image-based ID's are often difficult to obtain). Not all Macrobrachium possess hypertrophied "arms".

Edit: I just wanted to point out, the ghost shrimp I had look like Emgs. They have red bans on their feelers. I dont know if this is just a color variation but the ones Roan Art showed us have no color on them whatsoever.
Bunny,
You sure those aren't the eyes in Emg's picture? I think her's looks just like mine. Mine didn't have a dark background against it.

I did not see this post, so I applogize for my earlier one. The lights are off in my tank right now, so I cannot compare but I pretty sure mine do not have that dark banding on the bottom.

I will try and get pics in the morning to compare them with.

Wait, the second picture -- THAT is what I have in my tank. Not the first set of pictures in that link.

I don't read German. What does it say they are?

The higher white square is the eye identification and the lower one is the red marking identification. Anywho, that what I was talking about. (you can see it better on Emgs picture)
