are you an obsessive compulsive fishkeeper?

haha I probably count mine twice a day. once when I get up in the morning and once when I get home from work. and it's tough since i have 8 of one kind and 7 of another and the 2 otos tend to find good hidey holes to elude me ;)

I count my fish every morning before school.

White one: check.
Three red ones: check, check, check.
Jerk with black tail: check.
Other one with black tail: check.
Snails: big purple guy, little pink dudes, blue one, green one and elusive ninja camoflauged green stripey one.
Lazy betta in the fern: check.

All present and accounted for!

LOL great thread!

Counting this morning, I swear I'm missing a neon!

Once i stated that counting neons should be declerad a Olympic Sport, or at lest there should be a College Degree in Neon Accounting.

There is always one missing when you do the count. Next day, there seem to be a spare one.

Speaking of snails........(someone did mention snails I believe...)....I just spotted one of those slippery little hemephrodites gliding along the edge of the driftwood in my 29 ! Now where the heck did THAT come from ?? I haven't added anything new to this tank in a very long time ! It's about 3/4 of an inch and I can't figure how I could have missed that little heshe ! And...I have a kuhlii loach in this tank....that boy's not doin his job !

Oh well, lol....I really don't have anything against snails...as long as they keep thier numbers down and do a good job with the housework in there. And I don't know what species it is, so HeShe may not be an accurate name for it.

No need to count, I know them all as individuals. Maybe that's another level of obsession.

Prove me you can do this with a school of 15 harlequin rasboras or rummy nose tetras.

Dave, I can tell my gouramis apart: 1 male and 3 females (Anna Ida, Laurene, Bill and Maxine) listed in descending order of hierarchy. They all have different markings on them.

I can tell the females from the males as far as the tetras and danios are concerned, but individuals -forget it.

I think counting the danios is far harder than counting the tetras. My danios are always zipping around. How do you count fast fish in motion?
