I'm guilty of being very attached to my fish as well, esp the one's I can tell apart. I have 5 tanks going right now and all the fish in each one is special to me. I think my Cichlids are very special the way they all seem to watch me when I'm in the room. I swear one of them tries to "talk" to me lol. When my oscar was missing she kept wiggling at me and I would ask "where is Felix?" and She would wiggle and then dart over to the back of the tank. Well the second day I went looking for the oscar I found him dead between two rocks about where my cichlid was trying to get me to look. Okay maybe I've lost it, but I swear she was trying to show me where Felix was. I cried when I found him dead, and I think I would cry if any of my cichlids I have now died as they are part of my family. I also have a real bond with my target puffer, I bought him/her from a lfs and she/he was in bad shape, due to a previous owner having two of them and they got into a big fight with the one I bought being pretty torn up. He/she is all healed up now and doing great and I feel like I helped save it's life. He has to be the cutest fish I have. My favorite time with my fish is feeding time at night, I can spend hours just watching them and yes talking to them lol. So yes I'm attached and I hope they are at least a bit attached to me too, becuase they sure do lower my stress levels and give me a lot of enjoyment.
i am very attached to my tire track i feed him by hand every night and let him swim through my fingers. i am also attached to my GSP. i guess it is about a fish per tank that i am attached to.
It's been 12 years since I had to give away Herbie, my red devil...but I still think of her often. She used to have an "i'm hungry" dance when she saw me come into the room. Every day while I was at work she would busily rearrange all of the gravel in the tank. When i came home she would sit in the corner waiting for me to move it all back then do her I'm hungry dance....poor herbie....gone but not forgotten
My big Common Pleco has become a big attachment to me lately. He/she has gotten into the habit of sucking onto the front glass of the tank and sliding up to the top so I'll put some food in his/her mouth lol It's so cute, he/she even sticks part of it's head above the water level and lets me pet it. Even sucks on my fingers when I stick them in the tank. I feel like I've got this little "Orca" in my tank doing tricks for me heheeh
Fish, got to love them!
