well thanks for all the replies!
How about a green terror?
and has anybody heard of a incandiciet shark? that is not the spelling but i really can't remember it at the moment!
Iridescent Shark's are pretty weak on defence, a Green Terror would kill it pretty quick. The only sharks you'd be ok putting in with a Green Terror would be Red Tail Black Sharks, or Black Sharks.
If you want a "Shark" go with garabage suggestion and get a Red Tail Shark. I have one in my 55g and the color of this guy is awesome... But only get one two and it will be ugly.
so, green terrors, convicts and a red tail shark should be fine together in a 30 gallon? or how about a bottom feeder of somekind instead of the shark? btw, i am full of questions on fish! thanks guys
If you want more than a pair of Cichlids in a 30g, I'd look exclusively at the more passive of dwarf species (Flag, Apistos, dwarf Africans... stuff like that - but don't mix new world w/ old world unless you really know what you're doing).
Do some research.
Generally, well armoured bottom feeding catfish (a sm. species pleco, larger Cory species) should be suitable for cleaning substrate.
green terrors and convicts are cichlids. this means they are aggressive fish. Almost all cichlids will have aggressive behaviors, maybe not at first, but as they mature most all cichlids show aggression and make life for other tankmates a living hell.
Bala Sharks with any kind of aggressive cichlid is a problem waiting to happen. Bala Sharks are a schooling fish that need about 6 balas to feel comfortable. Still they are very skiddish at these numbers. if you put them with a juveline convict or green terror, they will live for a while but as the cichlid grows it will harrass and will most likely kill every one of them.
I had a baby Convict that grew rapidly (2 inches to 5 inches in 3 months) and began to wreck havoc on all my other fish. I had to take him back to the fish store to save him from killing all my other fish. They have ripped up fins, but they are alive.
I would say your best bet is to get 2 Convicts and watch them pair up (if female and male AND that's still a bet. one could just kick the others butt). If this is your first time with an aquarium, I would go with more simple community fish until your experience builds.
its not my first tank persay. I had a tank 20 gallon tank with some angels a few years back, I am pretty sure they all contacted ich and passed. but i really do appreciate all of the input tho. from what i have learned in the past. experience and patience is the key... well other than unlimited funds...lol. btw. did you guys see this? www.oregonreef.com, CRAZyneSSSSS!
