Thank you for the drawing, I love it! I think I get it now! The last pic it looked to me like it was the outflow peeing slowly back into the tank. Now I know it was skinny tubing inflow. An interesting design.

Geez, I always need help with understanding what I'm seeing, thanks for your patient explanations as always. I hope I'm not the only 1 that needs extra help. Maybe we all understand better with my idiot questions...at least I do!

I may share this with my fish sitter friend that recently asked about growing green onions & maybe herbs out of his tank top. Would that be OK? I'm betting yes, this is similar to what I suggested to him but with pics & sponges, a better design! He was more worried about food safety. I said if he doesn't medicate his tank it should be fine for human consumption. He hasn't added new fish for years, just some plants from me. Really, I think he was just checking up on the old neighbors but with a mission too!

I grow hydrocolotyle leucocephala, water lettuce, and creeping Jenny (a terrestrial) in mine. Easy fast growers lol

Could do veggies easily in some pots if you rigged the lights up higher. Or even outside in the summer in a pond, could rig it up to work similarly with some tweaking I'm sure.

Honestly I love these filters. They offer a lot more space for media, and more water volume as well.

I run my asian 20 gallon off of one and my south American riparium off of one. My 5 and 10 are off sponge, and my others canister. I switched to these after HOB conked out too many times on me and never looked back.


And wanna know one of the best parts?

Can "gravel vacuum" the ceramic media every water change for easy quick cleaning.

Oh, and they're fairly cheap. The pump is basically your biggest cost with it. And mine were under $30

Spotty, my Val munching monster. He is the prettiest goldfish I've ever seen, his markings are just so neat. Patterned like a koi sword tail but with black spots and two different eye colours. He's also all tail, which can both be hilarious at certain angles or extremely graceful looking. Very flowy fins


Bruce the Brute, the garra cambodgiensis. He's getting huge.

Spotty is very handsome, I especially like his 2 color eyes. But also his other colorations. Neowise is just an orange delight. I never knew how much I'd enjoy goldies...& Bruce, in other tanks than mine anyway

I may wait to share your filter with my friend until "his kids" go back to school, they may have already. He's a "manny" (male nanny) to the boys next door. Thank you though, I knew you probably wouldn't mind but didn't want to steal you idea, pics or your art without asking. His sister threw some green onion roots in a glass of water on his dim(ish) kitchen counter & they're growing!...so far. We did some romaine & celery experiments outside during early covid, too hot here is my guess, they grew for only a while but it was fun.

Today has been exactly one year since I brought Spotty home from the store.

Sherbet is delicious. I love raspberry personally haha
Spotty's eyes are one thing that caught my eye when I first saw him at the store, it's why I bought him. He was just so unique looking. He's a good boy too, easy going and friendly. Never sits still lol he's probably the prettiest I've seen so far, even among calicos. His markings are pretty evenly split, and then the different colored eyes too.

Ehhh sometimes they make some really ugly faces when I try to take their pictures, but that's part of the charm haha
