Blue's Tang Tank

OOH me too me too.. I love new setups..
Ohhh, but I'm really driving myself nuts!!!! I still have that 30g that I started to make a sump with and still going back and forth on....tear it apart and start a new tank, or finish it and have a sump

any updates? and were did you get your black sand and what does something like that cost? cuz i could use some substrate like that.

Not too much to update. The plants are doing ok. Some better than others. I need to make some root tabs for them.

The tangs are also doing really well. Shortly after I changed the tanks I noticed I had 5 Chalinochromis brichardi instead of 6. They were really skittish while I was changing the tanks. I think one might have jumped out of the bucket and the dog got it.
Oh well, all the rest are doing well.
The Tangs also took out one of the platies. It was a pregnant female. I've heard dwarf platies often die before having birth. I think that's what happened.
Also the Tangs have a few malawi roommates. Just a couple baby mbuna I got at auction that are too small to go in the main tank. As soon as they are big enough I'll move them.

As far as the sand it's 3m colorquartz s-grade. Really nice stuff but was discontinued last year. It was $22 for a 50lb bag.

dangit! that stuff would be great to use. and the price is nice, more than double what you get in a bag of tahiti moon sand for the same price. what other options are there for black sand?

Estes makes a nice sand but you pay about 5 bucks for a 5ib bag but you will have to find someone that carries it as it is a reef sand, i can get it for you but shipping would be expensive..

Or Caribsea sells it but it is a premium sand and you will pay for it..
