A while back I found a bug outside of my bedroom door and was freaked out because I had never seen such a thing before. After freaking out, I took pictures and nobody that I showed it to knew what it was. It looked like a kind of beetle with short legs. Needless to say I was afraid to go into my bedroom for a while.

It's been about 4-5 months, but I laid down today and saw a black mass, I turned on the light and to my disgust and horror I saw another one that had been crushed in my blankets, only this one was bigger and had spider like legs! Needless to say I looked up different types of crickets online, to find out its called a cave cricket. they are normally found in dark, moist places. I admit my tanks put off quite a bit of evaporation, so its a little humid in my apartment, and I like to keep it dark. Just thought I would share my experience, and warn others... I don't know if I will be able to sleep tonight knowing these will be crawling about while I sleep:

All of the other stories in the comments make me laugh, so they might make you laugh too! :D
Anyone else have a freaky bug experience?

Well.... heh.... I was once scared witless by a large moth. See, it just so happened to fly right into my face as I was walking out the back door. Such language you have never heard lol. Poor critter just wanted to get into the nice bright house, I let it back outside when I was done.

Oh, and once I was working on my tank and found one of those water stickbug things crawling up my arm. Several impure words, a loud shriek, and two terrified cats later it was back in the tank and I was trying to slow my heartrate lol.

Saddest thing is, both stories are true :/

Your storys are funnier than mine! Lol
I've had an issue with those huge flying bugs, I call them male mosquitoes, but I think they are really called mayflies. They like to fly at my face when my hands are in the tank. I have to step on a chair in order to do it, so you can imagine how many times I've almost fallen on my butt and how much wonderful language I have used. I just wish my cat was good for something! She sees a bug and just looks at it like 'oh, well would you look at that...'. Bugs just creep me out in general, I see one in the house, and I feel like they are all crawling on me

I found a colony of ants apparently living in the crevices of my fluval 305 when i opened it for cleaning last month. I ended up using a lot of boiling water to kill them off. Im worried they will be back next cleaning though.

The house im in right now is really old and wasnt maintained too well so bugs have easy access. My roommates also arent the cleanest. Thankfully Im moving in a couple weeks though, so hopefully therell be no more ants there lol.

That must have been disturbing to find, axelrod. I hate ants, and I'm the guy who lets mosquitoes back outside and picks up those big brown water spiders to take them out of the house (using paper or a cup or something of course). I see a swarm of them and a shudder just goes down my spine... if any ever go into MY filters... Oh dear god... *needs to check filters*

That's bad enough to make me paranoid... I mostly have beetle and spider problems... I don't mind ants though

Ants are really the only bug that I don't mind too much, but I still didn't want to find hundreds of them in my filter lol. It was mostly just difficult to get rid of them. I couldn't think of anything besides boiling water and chemicals that might kill them all off. Either way I was going to end up killing a lot of the bacteria in the filter. Thankfully I run 3 filters and understock that tank so the fish were fine.

You guys are afraid of bugs, really? If you want I can send my baby sister over to protect you guys.

"Phobia: A persistent, abnormal, or irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that compels one to avoid the feared stimulus."

The key word here is irrational.

Well someone wakes up on the wrong side of the bed often. More people are afraid of bugs than you know. If your not slightly freaked out by the way at least one bug looks, then I say there is something wrong with you.
