Buying a new tank?

Ok, I have seen those as well. Also, make sure your holes are not too close to the top and ends of the glass. Leave yourself a couple of inches each way. You will be able to adjust quite a bit with the localize so you don't have to have the BHs at the very top.

if you look at the picture with the tank half full you can see the small holes that are circled in black marker on the end of the tank. That's the location i plan to drill one of the returns one each side of the tank.. does that looks far enough in? its 2.5in from the edge on either side. Not sure what the BH's abbreviation you used stands for? I got 6" of line-loc on each of the 4 return heads so i can adjust the height of the return quite a bit from that.

That pic is why I mentioned it. Not a good angle for me to judge but if they are 2.5" inches from the top and end edges, you should be fine. They just looked closer to the top than that to me. BHs = bulkheads (sorry, getting lazy :).

The tank looks good. Nothing like a new, freshly filled tank!

PETCO 1$ A GALLON SALE STARTS TODAY!!!! Needless to say i got the sump!!!!! The correct drill bit showed up last night so finishing that today.

hmm fitting the 55 under the stand is going to be a problem.... let alone having enough room to work...

Bummer.

Will a 40 breeder fit or is it too wide? I would prefer a 40B over a 55 as a sump. 29 gallon would be your only other option as far as stock $1/gallon tanks go. 40 long is another option but those are kind of pricey (for some reason).

i already purchased the 55 so im stuck with it 60 miles from petco... its either going to be a basement sump now or cut the bottom out of the stand so the sump can sit lower. i believe that would give me 10 inches of space between the two tanks.
