can you feed big fish dog food??

im not sure if they do it overseas or not but delis etc have samplers out the front in plazas etc and once their was a sampler out the front of a pet food store(their was a pet show on) and this lady went over picked one ofthe samples up and ate it before the lady had a chance to say "ummm its dog food" lol true story

i wouldnt feed dog food to a fish.

OMG, no offense guys but you really do get uptight over fish stuff.

Couldn't agree more!;) Sometimes, experimentation is needed to advance research.

ive fed oscars gummi worms and peanut butter cups as welll

If you're serious (hopefully  ) that's a great example of swimming against the tide and no harm being done because of it. (Are those Oscars still alive? I hope so.)

he said dog food now does he mean soft canned food or dry? I would not feed the dry it would make a mess, I would also think that feeding tuna if it were fresh tuna steaks would be a good treat if the oscars liked it.

How is that a great example of "being different"? Regardless of if he's kidding or not, those two foods are not good at all... not for fish, or even humans for that matter.

I love how you say "and no harm done because of it", yet you go on to ask if the fish are still alive.

You're right! I should've put a big fat "IF" before that remark, instead of making it a question. My mistake.

But how do you know for sure though, that the stuff isn't nutritious for the oscars? Are you an ichthyologist? No. Just a enthusiast, but kudos for staying focused on what's best for the fish (my curiosity can sway from my priorities at times). I may not have a problem with a blacklight on a tank, or maybe trying some out of the ordinary foods (common sense would tell you to be extra careful about pollution and what not, I hope). Some people on these forums have fed spiders and other kinds of critters to their fish before. Bottom line, you can't be 100% sure unless you try. (Also, common sense would tell you that feeding your fish pieces of tin isn't a good idea. ;) )

How does he know for sure? they're gummy worms- they're not good for anything. It's not THAT much smarter than feeding them tin.

paper would be more nutritional then gummy worms although nice would do alot more bad then good im thinking of trying peices of plastic from my pellet container as im almost all out lol:laugh:
