CFL lights on a 180 - How many ????

A&H supply is a a very good outfit that's been around in the plant hobby for what? over 10 years now.
Very easy to wire, extremely bright!
They are brighter than the tank I have with the Coralife (I have HQI's in there as well, but I never use them- growth is too fast for my goal/taste, and the electric bill)

I do not use a glass lid, rimless............or if you use a full hood, no need either. Look around for bulbs, you can buy from A&H or poke around.
The 96 w bulbs are really very bright, beast is an appropriate word to describe them.
The only other option might be T's, say 39W x 6, 3 per 36" bank.
Also a good option, but likely would cost more.

I think I will do the A&H Light system and mount them in my hood. I have a Full Hood but never close it as the "LID" is BIG and HEAVY! I am going to go with 4 96W Kits. This sounds Like It will be more light than I need or have ever had in this tank. I am thinking this is the best way to go! I can here my Electric meter screaming already! LOL - then again compaired to 25 to 30 screw in bulbs at 26W each. It might be a power savings going with the PC kits!

it uses six 65W bulbs which are about two feet long instead of the 96W bulbs though.
The 65W bulbs may be a bit cheaper overall, I'm not sure.

so ah supply it is? i think that's really your best option for such a large tank. it should look better and need a lot less labor on your part.
CFLs are a waste of money and electricity. Obsolete technology compared to T5HOs. If you have them use them but buying them new makes no sense. The easy and cheap way would be to pick up 4 of the cheap 36" Current units that use two bulbs each with no fans. Total cost will be under $200 for 8x39W bulbs which will give more usable light than 500+W of CFL. Bulbs last longer and are cheaper to replace. Getting a better unit with fans will increase bulb life and there are units that have 12 of the 39W bulbs. Cost will be about $600 but the amount of usable light is about equal to a 3x250MH fixture.
I have a number of AH Supply fixtures. They are good stuff, but the bulbs are getting harder to find locally - T5HO is more efficient and comparably priced, and generally easier to find (for me anyway).
