If it were a small business, would've had a problem with it, but not a big box store. I figure they have ripped me off many more times by selling defective merchandice that breaks just after the 30 day return period.
Last time I went I told the lady I had 3 bags of mulch, she rang it up as 2, I didn't argue because I already told her.
You got a great deal and saved those fish and it was their choice as to how to ring it up.

In all seriousness, I have walked into a store with nothing but a cell phone, keys, and cash, and had those things go off.
Hey it was the lady that rang it up that way and as loud as I as was being almost everyone near the front of the store new what I was saying.
I have done the "bag it my own dang self" thing at this chain store many times. Something about the live fish in pets and the ammo counter in sporting goods makes employees want to run away and never come back. They page someone over and over... nobody comes. I wish I had keys to the ammo case - I'd do that myself too, if I could. Waiting for 30 mins to try to give them money is very frustrating indeed.
I eventually learned to find the Sharpie pen they use (usually near the bags) and write the numbers on the bag myself so it looked like they did it, and I didn't get any issues at checkout. Ha-ha!

Something about my wife's handbag used to trip those things off everytime we went in the store... about 3 months after she go it it started tripping off every alarm in every store... we never figurered out why- it eventually stopped.
