Chain Store Score

Most interesting. My post was edited to remove the store name. Is that common practice, or was that just done in this case because of some of the derrogatory comments contained herein?

There's a "big box store" finally freed the bettas from cups thread here that still has the chain store name, is why I ask. Is this because there aren't as many negative posts about the store or is the "big box" store more litigious?

I understand why the name was taken out to protect the guilty (ha-ha), so I'm just curious (not trying to step on any toes or anything). I was once a mod at another fish forum, and this is the first I've seen of big box store name sanitization.

EDIT: HAHA! No way. It happened again. This post was edited to remove the name from the other thread, yet the other thread was not edited. I guess this thread has the mod spotlight on it. I'll just slink away now...

It's generally observed that at some point any store name will be removed or edited to the point of ambiguouty (sp?). It seems to be one of the rules that we must follow. We cannot say anything good or bad about a specific company, except in a product review - and then it is not about the company, but about the product. Personally, I feel that we should be able to warn others about bad experiences with specific companies, but I understand why the rule exists.

This thread really isn't about the particular store so it doens't bother me that the name was edited out. I too have wondered why some names are edited some aren't but I guess that decision is for the mods and not me

Yeah, there aren't really any other "big box" stores that sell tropical fish and veggies like sweet potatoes anyway, so it's still obvious which store you meant. Plus, the thread tags at the bottom still show the store name in two parts with "score" in the middle. Oops. Ha-ha. It happens.

The mods are just trying to do what they can to protect the site. I'd do the same if I were in their shoes.
