I have a 10 gallon tank with a ugf. Last week I put in a hogwort plant and some water sprite. Now I am thiking of DIY CO2. Am I wasting my time since the the 2 up tubes from the UGF with just let out the CO2?
well you could switch it to a RUGF. use a power head to push the water down and up thought the gravel. that will turn the bed into bio filtration plus you wouldnt have the air bubbles coming up from the ugf.
true enough, but there is little enough room in the tank as it is without tryin gto fit a powerhead into it. I know the situation isn't ideal. I have a 33 gallon tank that I plan to set up as a planted tank. This one just sort of happened. I switched the incandescents for 6500K CFL's and just wanted somethign to diffuse the light. I bouth the water sprites, then read that the hornwort was a floating plant so I bought one and just let the excess drape over the surface.I have a 15 watt CFL on one side and 10 watts on the other so I have ~2.5 watts per gallon at the momment and was toying with the CO2 idea
ok. I figured it would be overkill but for the sake of a bottle and jello, sugar etc thought I would try it . if not necessay I will just leave it to the lights .
nothing going to stop you from trying but the bubbles are going to cancel it out. i dont think you will see much effect. another thing with the screw in bulbs they are not as efficient as t5 and reg cf bulbs. there is a lot of restrike.
I figured as much. Not too worried about it. As I said they were only put in there to diffuse some of the light, although when looking at them after a couple of days, I noticed fry swimming in them. Absolutely NO CLUE what had babies, or how long they will last, but fun to find nonetheless
ya, worried I might have screwed them up moving a few things in the tank. While I wasn't planning on anything breeding, would love to know what they are. I was goin gto move them into my g/f's snail nursery, but that would involve finding them again. thought I would just leave things take their course and hope the platys don't eat them all
