I have a 10 gallon tank with a ugf. Last week I put in a hogwort plant and some water sprite. Now I am thiking of DIY CO2. Am I wasting my time since the the 2 up tubes from the UGF with just let out the CO2?

true enough, but there is little enough room in the tank as it is without tryin gto fit a powerhead into it. I know the situation isn't ideal. I have a 33 gallon tank that I plan to set up as a planted tank. This one just sort of happened. I switched the incandescents for 6500K CFL's and just wanted somethign to diffuse the light. I bouth the water sprites, then read that the hornwort was a floating plant so I bought one and just let the excess drape over the surface.I have a 15 watt CFL on one side and 10 watts on the other so I have ~2.5 watts per gallon at the momment and was toying with the CO2 idea

ok. I figured it would be overkill but for the sake of a bottle and jello, sugar etc thought I would try it . if not necessay I will just leave it to the lights .

I figured as much. Not too worried about it. As I said they were only put in there to diffuse some of the light, although when looking at them after a couple of days, I noticed fry swimming in them. Absolutely NO CLUE what had babies, or how long they will last, but fun to find nonetheless

ya, worried I might have screwed them up moving a few things in the tank. While I wasn't planning on anything breeding, would love to know what they are. I was goin gto move them into my g/f's snail nursery, but that would involve finding them again. thought I would just leave things take their course and hope the platys don't eat them all
