Starting a new thread with the new ID. (Old thread here: http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=224959)

I adopted this little guy from someone who had been keeping him in a "beta bowl" (vase, actually) and realized that it was too small for him. He made it through acclimation and is in QT in a 5 gallon hex (not ideal, but all I had available).

Hoping for three things:

#1 - Advice or reassurance regarding his tendency to lean to one side when resting. (See last pic.) He seems fine when he swims (though that isn't all that often).

#2 - Anyone in southern NH or northern Mass have a school of C. aeneus that could use one more? He'd be happier with friends and I don't really have space to get more. I'd be happy to QT him for a while first.

#3 - Any suggestions for helping him feel more comfortable in the absence of a school?

Thanks!

On to the pics...

Mine will lean over like that from time to time when they are really relaxed. He looks pretty good and I bet with proper care he will thrive. They are hardy cories IMO.

I wish I was closer, I would take him today! I have a breeding school of the little guys!

Oh good! I was hoping it was something like that. I'll keep a close watch, of course, but that makes me feel a lot better.

It's a good thing they're hardy. This little guy has been through a lot recently. I just learned that the previous owner only had him for 2 days, so he's been moved around an awful lot in a short amount of time.

Thanks for the thought. :) He's got a few weeks of quarantine to get through before I move him to my 30g, so hopefully I can find him a home with friends before then.

He is probably lonely, I bought a lone one out of a tank a few weeks ago and he was doing the same thing, just staying still and looking pitiful.

Once I introduced him to the school he was perky and active within minutes.

Sounds like this little guy really needs some friends. :(

I've never really wanted to keep cories---I just think they look strange (please don't hate me, cory-lovers!)---but if I can't find someone to take this one I may have to get more, just so he doesn't look so pitiful. I'd probably have to sweet-talk my partner into letting me leave up one of the four (four!) tanks I currently have going for quarantine. I told him they were all temporary... :/

That is awesome. They really are characters! If he had buddies you would see never ending swimming and schooling. He is going to grow on you. You might as well plan on it. You could get a combo of the bronze and albino.

Wow! The cory has really perked up. I almost couldn't get a shot because he (or she) is all over the tank.

That's an algae wafer that I threw in because it's the only sinking food I have on hand. What should I be feeding him?

He is a character and he might be growing on me a little... but I still think he's funny-looking. :P
