Couple questions...

I heard u say that in another post and was going to ask you about that but you pretty much cover it right there! Would it be ok if i did that shrimp method thing in about 4 days?? Im out of town for a few nights and wont be able to check on the tank so when i return ill be able to check the levels and all that everyday.

honestly, i would try to put it in there before you go. It really smells bad and the more days you can be away from it, the better. lol. How long are you gone for? If its only like 2-4 nights. I wouldn't sweat it. It takes a day or two for the readings to start showing up anyways. you can just test it when you get back and see where its at in the cycle. But with that being said - it doesn't matter really. you could wait 4 days if you want. it's up to you.

if you do put it in before you leave......leave a window open. lol.

alrite ill put it in tomorrow before i leave. im gone for 3 nights. Is a cocktail shrimp just regular grocery store shrimp from the shrimp rings?

as long as it raw and has had no preservatives with it, yes, they will be fine...Dont forget to wrap it in some stocking material to save it disintergrating and filling your tank with rotting bits while it decomposes...

yuppers. I got a single jumbo shrimp. They gave it to me for free... they though I was joking when I said "I want one jumbo shrimp please". haha. But any shrimp will do I guess.

Don't be surprised if you come home to a less then pleasant smell.

yeah, if they have a butcher counter w shrimp and fish and stuff just buy one or two from there instead of the whole pre-packaged bag (unless you intend to eat the leftovers :) )
i think the tank'll be fine over the couplt of days that you're gone. testing daily isn't really that important IMO because the cycle is going to tank time and will only progress with time. you could leave the shrimp in for a month and when you get back the tank would still be cycled, you'd just have to do a BIG @$$ water change when you got back.

Ok nice, now i have an excuse to eat shrimp around my girlfrind (who hates seafood) lol. So does it have to sit on the bottom or can it just be hanging in their??
