Cycle finished but nitrites through the roof

i'm in week 10 now. I've been through the ammonia spike, that lasted a while then they zeroed out and everything else went good but high nitrites. My wife happens to be a block from the lfs so she is swinging by on her way home with a new nitrite kit just so I can be sure it's not my tester..

The other alternative is to get your lfs to test the water for nitrites, and see what their test comes up with..

I just got another nitrite test kit and the result is the same. I will test again tomorrow and see if things are any different. If not i have no idea what to do! lol

The green algea does it have a soft satiny feel too it. Can you get a closer pic of it. From this pic it appears to be Oscillatoria. Green slime algea a form of red slime algea.

It has the appearance that some of the rock is dyed, but some of it is grass like and slimy i suppose:

From those two pics it appears to be encrusting which would eliminate green slime algea. More than likely a combination of a green coraline algea and hair algea. Are you running a skimmer? If you are run it on the wet side. Increase flow in the tank. Keep up with water changes, RO DI water preferrably. Manual removal of the larger algea will help to control it until you can safely put in a clean up crew to control algea.

No skimmer and I just added a Koralia1 2 days ago, and boy is that little powerhead awesome, the whole tank is moving now. I am using RO from my new RO filtration unit bought specifically for water changes. I have another jug ready for a 25% change should I go ahead and do another change now or wait another day? Thanks

if i scrub as much off as possible think it will subdue it or will it just come right back?
