So some of you know that I adopted a cat about a month ago. When I was fostering her she was sweet as a pea and wasn't picky with her food and was an all around great cat.
Then she was given to me as a birthday present. I swear it was if she knew she was in the green zone and she turned into the biggest diva ever. I know I spoil her so much which could be part of the reason why she turned into such a snot face but that's not the reason I'm writing this.
After I adopted her she started to become really picky on food where as when she was a foster she would eat anything. She likes her meow mix seafood meadly dry cat food just fine, tried to feed her some generic that someone gave me and she wouldn't eat it so I gave it to the feral cats I take care of and they scarfed it right up. As far as canned cat food goes, she used to eat it all, whatever I bought her she ate and now she had two things that she would eat. Tuna fish(for human consumption) and friskies classic pate. Oh and of course she ate fancy feast but I hated buying it because it was $.10 more then the other brands and a whole lot less.
Well anyways I was searching on CL and I came across this ad. This guy had to close down his health food pet store and had to liquidate all is canned cat food. Some of the brands being weruva, precise, and tiki cat. I did a google search on all three brands because I hadn't seen them on store shelves. Well no duh for me, talk about high end quality very expensive cat food. The precise cat food was $2 a can online and the other brands mentioned were around that too. I started reading the reviews that people gave and they sounded really good. The only thing bad people said about the various brands was that the price was so high but it was worth it because even their most picky cats would eat it. That sold me, I emailed the guy and asked for a price and he told me $12 for a case($.50) but if I bought more then two cases I could have them for $10 a case(24 cans).
I felt like I had hit the jackpot, If I can spend the same amount for high quality cat food that has real meat in it that even the pickiest cats would eat I was in heaven. I went to buy four cases and came home with six which ran me $60 but I didn't care I was so excited. Got home, opened up a can of weruva, beef and potatoes, and I swear to you it looked like someone slow cooked a roast and put in the can with peas and potatoes. It did not look like animal food in the least. I spooned some in chances bowl, she licked it maybe three times and then walked away. I was like oh the f*ck no. So then I'm like okay well when she gets hungry enough she'll eat it. But I couldn't take the waiting, I had to open a different can. This time I opened a tiki cat, tuna fish with prawns. For sure she had to like this right? She goes through so much tuna fish it's not funny so surely she'll love this. Opened it up, there was a couple of small prawns sitting right on the top. Spooned some in chances dish she took one sniff and ran.
I'm just so frustrated. I have a huge box of 148 cans of cat food sitting in my dining room, two opened cans in the fridge and a cat sitting at my feet meowing because she's hungry. She finished off the rest of her dry food and I know she wants more or better yet for me to open a can of tuna. I think I'm going to leave the food there for a night and maybe if she gets really hungry she'll eat it. I'm so tempted to toss the opened stuff out to the ferals because I know they'd scarf anything up in a heart beat, all they care about is being fed but I bought this food for Chance. Chance is my one tame cat, she's my baby girl and I want her to eat the best but she's not cooperating. Any suggestions?:help2:This situation reminds me why I'm a dog person.
