No, C02 isn't needed for the slow growth plants you have. I was just saying that the fast levels of growth needed to have plants really reduce nitogren compounds required C02.

Have you verified that your source water isn't introducing nitrates?.
yes my tap is practically zero i have super filtered water here probably why it costs 450 dollars every 3 months lol, i guess i would have to take my water in and let someone who can tell the different colors do it cause i cant

also looking into duckweed as its great t reducing nitrates

I'd go with salvinia instead, to be honest. Salvinia is slightly larger than duckweed, which means it is easier to manage and remove when you decide you don't want your tank to be topped with a green carpet. I would never, ever, ever encourage someone to introduce duckweed to their tank. Once it is there, getting it out will be very challenging. You might try setting it up in a tank that you can plumb into your show tank, like an algae filter, so you can prevent it from getting in the main tank.

Duckweed = herpes of the aquarium world.

Yes, +1 on not ever using duckweed!

I would check local laws about salvinia, It is illegal in some places as an invasive species.

<y personal preference for a floating plant would be a member of the Azolla genus, but I like the color and the leaf shape, but it will not grow inside for a lot of people, so YMMV.

If you are using HOB filters, or could add one, I would strongly suggest using something like pothos in the filter, and hanging out of that to grow up the walls, on shelves etc. it's far easier to remove than duckweed, and works miraculously well.

i have glass lids as i have fish that will jump out of the tank so an ogrow is out of the question, i have 2 HOB's, an aqua clear 110 and an aqua clear 70, what does not make sense is high nitrates will lower ph, my ph is always 7.6 , it also creates algae i have none, another thing that does not make sense is i have matrix and nitrazorb in my 70, so what would be a good plant that will grow under a elive 48" with 8 plant pods , 4 lunars, 2 color enchancing and 2 infra red?
prreferrable one that gross tall , getting my substrate today i cannot afford to do eco complete on a 55 gallon at 25.00 a bag where i will need like 5 bags to get me depth plus coverage but my lfs said they have something they use in their home aquariums that works just as good cant remember the name its not soil/sand or compost though which is what im steering clear of i want a small pebble sustrate a bit thicker than sand so i dont ruin my filters
