did i use the right miracle grow organic? and shrimp.

For low light plants? You don't need any for low light.
I would clean it with something that will take off all the blood meal. Don't just rinse/spray it with water. Just buy new gravel to be safe.

i dont really have enough money for all new gravel sadly (im 15 and mom refuses to buy more fish stuff) ive got about 24 dollars saved up for the shrimp and atleast 20 has to be for the shrimp. i have anachris, aponogeton, anubius, jungle vals, i might have some crypt (dont know how to trim it and plant it in another tank), some other plant, and java moss. what would you suggest i wash it in?

I bleach mine. You just have to know how much water to add with the bleach. I don't know if it will work on gravel but the plants can be bleach dip. Don't let it sit in the bleach water. You can also use other stuff to clean it but found bleach much easier to get. After, soak the stuff with conditioner to take away the bleach. I've grown all the plants listed with only 15 watts of light. No co2, ferts, nothing. I would just put gravel in the tank to be safe for shrimp.

I agree that a soil substrate really isn't needed for the plants you want to grow.

As for the crypt it's not a stem plant so you can't just trim and replant. If it has grown any "offshoots" you can divide those...otherwise you would have to move the whole plant, root system and all...

i was wondering about that. how long does it take for it to shoot the new plants off of it? in a medium lights tank? its taken off after it melted.

do i really need to do the plants? i might can just get new gravel maybe. how many of bags do i need of the kind from walmart?

ohhhh offshoots i thought you meant like how my aponogeton grows and then put off a baby plant. any ideas on the salt and the shrimp? do i need to bleach the plants?

it still says organic though. i REALLY dont want to redo this tank. i thought alot of shrimp like brackish water though.

Should probably research your shrimp. RCS, for example, don't seem to be suitable for brackish water. At least, I haven't seen anything that says they are.
