Disprove Global Warming!!!

this is a good read:

the biggest problem I have with global warming is that the idea has gained practically religious status among the believers. Those that believe, just go on believing, and those that don't are heretics. Which is why I usually stay away from the debate. You can argue back and forth either way indefinitely, but 99% of the time, if someone believes one way or the other, they aren't going to change their minds.

Oh no's! It's a conspiracy! Get out your tinfoil hats!

All I gotta say is that I was recycling before it was "cool".

An interesting read indeed Sploke. Definitely some compelling evidence casting doubt over the current data as it stands, but the author brings up some curious points. First off, on the 2rd page, he alludes to the other major pollutants, namely methane, cfcs, and NO2 as also having a significant effect on infrared heat uptake. Considering that this is the area where we are rapidly increasing the presence of these substances in the atmosphere, it bears more research (at least on my part). Regardless, thanks for posting some hard scientific documentation, not filtered conjecture or twisted/spun numbers. I look forward to reading more sources of this nature.

No evidence but I personally think the earth is cyclical and there is nothing we can do to prevent it. perhaps the effects from man are speeding it up but it will happen anyway......

the whole earth is overstocked, and needs a 50% water change.
everything will be fine!

I rarely make it down to these parts of the forum. How I got all the way down here today, IDK.

But saw this was started yesterday. Got to the bottom of the first page and seen 6 pgs to go!

So started skimmin' (no pun intended)

And a big No chit! to the quote above.

Take out half the humans today, and we'd cause 2/3 less damage tomarrow.

Then we would just have to sit around and replace the one dead with a baby. Instead of whatever we're doing now. And wait on the Earth to Cycle and kill us all. Yea, kind of a bass akerds cycle, compared to what we're used to. But hey, the planets going do what it does. And it'll take us all out one day, if we are part of the problem or not.

Done said it before and gonna say it again...

"We're all a bunch of stupid humans, that are too smart for our own good!"

gonna go stare at some corys now.

Well hopefully earth will trade us with a few martians and give a RAOK to the moon Titan so that we'll be able to come back and repopulate the earth one day! ;)

Scientific consensus points toward a human augmentation of greenhouse gas emissions, far more than volcanoes/swamps/seepage does every year. In fact, sulfur compounds from volcanic events tend to cool whichever hemisphere they occur in for about a years' time. I miss Carl Sagan.

I find it telling that most sources in favor of a human role in global warming cite scientific journals. Consensus is the name of the game, scientists who don't believe in a human role in global warming are not 'marginalized' in any way... The voluminous amount of data from ice and mud cores point toward something that has not occurred in roughly 100,000 years.

A great slap on the back to those who pointed out ocean acidification as something that co-occurs with greenhouse gas global warming. The oceans are becoming increasingly acidic, reaching near neutral in some areas near coastlines. Any pH under 8.0 is fatal to a marine species bearing a calcareous shell. Massive coral bleaching events due to rising ocean temperatures near the equator point directly to something that is unprecedented; these reefs have prospered in these areas for nearly 100,000 years. The fact that 90% of coral on a particular reef can be bleached during one high temperature event definitely says something is going on. It's as though all of the conifers starting dying in the Northern Hemisphere. These are the indicator species of our planet.

From what I've heard from combining info from several scholarly sources is that the Earth naturally goes through climate change, but our pollutant impact is speeding it up and making the changes more dramatic.

What's absolutely disgusting and upsetting is what we're doing to the ocean and delicate rain forests. Check this out, it's sickening;
http://www.cdnn.info/news/article/a071104.html

Our numbers are simply too big to be sustained by the Earth's resources. We need to cut down on our growth somehow (there are several ways, but not everyone likes them).

What's going to be really fun is when the core's polarity switches! No protective magnetic shield to block harmful sun rays for a few months.

why push the idea that global warming is a hoax, whether its real or not its forcing people to try to stop their bad habits. the idea of global warming is helping to stop the demolition of our planets last havens for species

Politics! It's as simple as that. The vast majority of scientists in the "skeptic" camp are funded by lobbyist and industies.

Saying global warming isn't real is ludicrous... it IS happening we can measure it.

I can understand those who debate whether man contributes or not. It is something that can be put to debate. Personally, as I stated early I think we're very responsible- but I can understand people taking the opinion it is a natural cycle. What I can't understand is people who say global warming isn't happening when we can clearly measure it is.

To me, it's no different than the scientists paid by tobacco companies decades past to produce research saying that cigarettes don't have negative health effects.

The debate shouldn't be is global warming a hoax- that is a ludicrous- and I think even most of our skeptics on here agree. That argument brought about by political manovering. The debate should be about man's involvement.
