DIY Radiation Barrels

Yeah, the paint drys slowly and it's really thin. I'm having to apply a lot of layers. Also, Mondays and Tuesdays are really busy school days, so I haven't had much time to work on them. I think I'll be done with the yellow layer tomorrow, then I'll have to put on the black symbols and paint the inside green. After that, it needs to cure for a week.
Don't worry, I appreciate chemistry and chemists, it's just too complicated for me to understand. I wish I could!!! I'm just really bad with numbers, so I stick to working with critters.

Don't sell yourself short, I think one problem with college chemistry is that you have to learn a lot in a short amount of time - and if numbers aren't a strong point that definitely makes it more difficult. I think if you had the time and didn't have the GPA stress, you could understand it! But since you love biology and critters, I think you've found an excellent match.

Ran into another problem. You can tell I've never worked with spray paint before! :lol2: I found out the hard way that when I peel the barrel off the newspaper, the paint stayed. Luckily, the bare spots are only on the ends. Sooooo, I jury-rigged some sticks into a little stand to hold the barrels so I can paint the ends without ripping the paint off.
Behold my mad DIY skillz using sticks and tape.

looks pretty cool so far..
Now you need some tiny radioactive placards..
maybe a toy truck that crashed and spilled those drums on the street...

I have black paint that I'm going to use to for the symbol, and I have green paint for the inside of the canisters.

Hint:
Always use Duct Tape. Its way more impressive. ;)

.........

Back to my corner --->

I wouldn't trust the adhesive used in my aquariums.

dude.. you need to put green glofish in there!

When I turn my blacklight on.. my glofish look totally radioactive-- especially the green ones

pretty sure a 5g is a bit small for them tho lol

Lol, yeah. It's WAY too small for glo-fish. I wish...
Then again, if I were Carolina Biological Supply Company, I'd sell a Glo-fish 6 gallon kit, and cram 6 fish into it!

I thought that was bad, until I found an even worse one. I don't think this is offered any more (I wonder why...), but they had a 1.5 gallon "kit" that you could put 3, 6 or 9 (!) glo-fish in.

:headshake2:
No, for my 5 gallon hex, I think one brig and some cherry shrimp will be plenty.

Great stocking choice IMO. :)

You could always do yellow or green shrimp to stay with the overall theme.
