I actually have thought about that. I haven't entirely decided on which species to get yet, but I have plenty of time. Right now, I'm still waiting for my tank to cycle. Then, I have to wait for my driftwood to arrive, boil it, and attach it to a glass plate. Then, I need to finish painting the barrels and let them cure for a week. Then, I need to overhaul the tank, take out the brown gravel, put in the black gravel, and add the driftwood, barrels and plants. I don't expect to be done for a while yet, but it will give the tank time to mature a bit.
 
Alrighty! I'm still chugging along, but I kept running into unexpected problems!! Also, with school and work, I don't always have a ton of spare time to do stuff like this.
One thing I've learned doing this... wait for each section to fully dry before messing with it! This may seem obvious to you guys, but I'm new to this stuff. When I taped part of the yellow section to add the green, it pulled some paint off :(. I managed to fix it reasonably well, IMO.
Krylon Fusion didn't have a lime green available, so I sprayed some of the yellow and some of the light green into a cup and applied it with a sponge brush.
All I have left now is the little nuclear symbol. I'm still deciding exactly how I want to do this part.

After more issues, I'm finally done!
Okay, these are the problems I ran into this time. The Krylon paint is waaaaaaaay to thin to do ANY kind of detail work. Even with a stencil...trust me, I tried. This stuff makes water look thick. The solution- Since the details were black anyway, I just used black aquarium sealant.
So, after a ton of problems, I'm finally done. I just have to wait a couple of days, and then I can finally put them in! The aquarium itself is done, I just need to pick up some lime green gravel to accent the black gravel.

fyi sand the pvc next time ;)

paint will stick better to the surface. ;)
