Does this annoy you?

My favorites are the ones who ask questions and ignore everyone who posts except the person who remotely gives them the answer they want.

Example-a certain recently closed ca/sa cichlid thread. I really have to bite my tounge because I'll get myself banned real quick.

I guess I don't have a problem with people asking repeat questions on certain things since some things are difficult to get a straight answer on. Plus I trust the majority of opinions/solutions that people have here

Not really....I just ignore the thread and move on. No sweat off my back.

I just wanted to say how ironic it is that you feel this way.

I just posted a question asking about transporting fish. Then I saw this post, and thought, "oh yeah, I guess I could check and see if there's an old topic about it."

Lo and behold, the first search result under "transporting fish", was a post that YOU made, followed by pages of older posts that would have answered both your question and mine.

I'm not trying to start anything, I just thought that it was worthy of mention, and something to think about before getting annoyed with people for doing the same things that you yourself do.

I personally like posting my own questions, because I get to describe the situation, get input from others on the site, get to know people better, and in doing so, AC feels a whole lot more like a community. I also like to know what's going on with the fish and hobbies of friends I've made on this site, and help them out when I can. I also don't open threads if I have no interest in what the title says, therefore escaping all possibility of being annoyed by them. But that's just me.

Totally agree. It's good to get fresh input from people. Everyone's situation is different, and an idea exchange can be a valuable tool in any decision making.

I guess one thing that does annoy me is people who always ask questions but never help anyone else.

I mean, we all have questions, and there will always be someone who knows more than we do.

Yet, we will surely be ahead of lots of people if we have at least some experience...there will always be newbies, people who ask basic questions. The kind of questions that are not that much fun to answer, and that need not so much an answer but a bunch of links to more information. That's why I have a whole bookmark folder full of resources for newbies and common questions.

So if we are experienced fish keepers, I feel like at least sometimes, it's our "responsibility" to once in a while help people, who don't yet know what we know. Granted, we don't always have time, but at least a few times a week (since I check this site usually multiple times daily) I try to help someone by answering a question that I know the answer to.

Being helpful is not for everyone, though.
