What annoys me is when some gives a breakdown of their tank and their plans for it after answering a question. I'm sure I've done it a few times before, but when you see it constantly it gets annoying.
And people that can't spell or use words like cuz, gunna, balla, tryna. No you don't have a ballin tank. Bleh

And I guess I should have been more specific in my original post on this thread, I meant without utilizing the search feature of the forum in question, not Google or other sources. A lot of random sources give faulty information that isn't reliable. Forums tend to be more accurate, at least in my experience.

Most of the Google search results ARE from forums, lol! (That and Yahoo answers, which everyone with half a brain can see is positively worthless overall.) There are a lot of really crappy fish forums out there. This forum is much better than many, as is Aquatic Plant Central, Plantedtank.net, etc.

I would still argue that most people have read, are not clueless, but they just want someone to personally address them. Many people who aren't very computer literate don't know how to properly research, either...and can only get so far on their own.

I love this site, but I've got to say - the search engine sucks. It may be even worse now, I agree. I was looking for a used Fluval 105 a while back and I could not, even by using quotes ("fluval 105") get the search engine to understand that I was ONLY looking for fluval 105s, not and anything with the word fluval or the number 1, 0, or 5 in it...so I had about 11 pages to wade through

When the behavior of anonymous people online starts to annoy you...time to take a step back and go play in the real world for a while.

Not trying to be a jerk by saying that, just my advice based on spending WAY too much time being annoyed by similar things. Decided it wasn't worth the investment.

I hate the idiots that give you an answer that either A) is completely wrong, B) they have no personal experience on which to base it C) give a 2 page dissertation on their opinion that has nothing to do with the question asked, and D) repeat the same drivel that was given by the previous answer as if it "proves" they have the knowledge.

Think that should be 'or', instead of 'and'. It is rather annoying when someone does any 1 or 2 of those, but all 4 in the same post does take some thought and effort and should leave the reader in awe of the achievement (and wasted potential) rather then annoyed. :evil_lol:



As for the forum search concept. You don't really really need to use the 'search' feature on multiple forums to do research. Google can search a specific (or multiple) forum(s) for you if you know how to use it. At the very least if you put 'forum' in your search somewhere you'll get a whole bunch of forum postings.

Blatant misspelled words, "text talk" and the like dont annoy me, it just pisses me off.. Especially with all the spell checkers available.

Annoys me no more then the threads of people *****ing about people not using search functions.

One some forums (especially programming forums) there's always some idiot to do that in every thread even after I just googled something for hours and have some complex problem to solve. Like if someone here started a thread about breeding some specific fish and someone else said "we already have threads about fish. Use search!". I could kill those people, especially since when enough idiots act like a problem is solved everyone else starts to ignore it.

Did they say why it won't work or just "it won't work". If people are just going to share the popular opinion, then yeah you might as well use search function. but on the other hand if they explain why not to in a way that makes sense.
