Dog I'm Adopting =)

Oh I know that
I plan on taking her out for hours a day, running/walking ect. going to the park too, even if it's raining(unless it's too cold for her) I don't mind taking walks.

Plus we have a large-ish yard and lots of water for her to swim in in the warmer months.

People mistake their energy for agression, because they are bouncing off of their cage walls and shaking their bars.. it scares people, everyone was giving her cage alot of room lol

good luck with her Bettagurl she looks real cute :)

We got her home and had a bit of trouble, but nothing serious;
our old female shepherd has decided that se must protect us from this new dog, and attempted to bite her quite a few times, but not a constant attack, so we're keeping them on very short leashed visits until Dutch decides Tink is ok.
And the cat... Tink happily went over to see him and got a face full of claws.. but she's only got 1-2 tiny holes.
And her reaction to these attacks was running behind us and still trying to be friends with whoever attacked her.. she jumped in my mom's lap when the cat got her.
My pom-shih-tzu mix rules the house here.. but she got over herself pretty fast and seems to have realized that the puppy isn't a threat.
Ziggy, our schnauzer lunged at her at first but even after that she was bouncing around trying to play and he seems to like her.

I'm sure everything will be fine after a while =)

As you can see from the pic, she is pretty nervous, but is getting over it pretty fast ;)

She has a couple of problems I'm noticing, she's toy and slightly food possesive, but my mom thinks she'll get better without it being taken care of the right way :shakehead:

BG, just a word of caution, while I am think all the other animals should come around after a while, your female shephard may or may not drop this behavior of hers toward Tink. They say with females, you just never know. I have a Saint Bernard female and doberman female and have gone through this behavior with negative results. We now have the house permanently gated to keep these two separated. In the beginning, things were fine... then there was a couple fights, nothing too serious. The fights got closer together until finally, an $800 vet visit... with the doberman in some pain. The Saint just grew less and less tolerant of her. We used to be able to see it coming until the last fight. It came from absolutely nowhere. Believe me, a saint bernard and doberman are not fun to break up nor cool to simply let "duke it out", so separation is a must here. You may need to heed with caution where those two girls are concerned as well, being they are also 2 very powerful dogs.

As far as the toy and food aggression (or slight aggression), good luck with that. As you know, it may work itself out, but being how powerful she has the ability to be, you may do yourself a big favor by hiring an professional to handle this issue early.

I bet it wouldn't be fun at all trying to seperate them, it took 4 of us one time to seperate 3 large dogs who got into it...

They are deffinetly being seperated, and will not ever be left alone together if they ever overcome this.. plus my shepherd is having problems, and with her age(13) will not be with us much longer.. She isn't being left alone(even for short periods of time) with our small dogs, when we are gone and at night she'll be in her large crate(which she seems to like, I think she feels comfort while in it, she goes in it to rest).

As for the food/toy agression, it isn't bad, and she seems to be getting better with it, even after an hour of me working with her,(I walk up while she has a toy/bone ect and drop a small dog treat and walk off, so she gets the idea that when I come close she gets something good, as opossed to I come close to her toy, she growls and gets told "no" or "bad" which is unpleasant).. she lets us have it quite easily.

She is a smart girl, and I think she'll do good with some more work.

(Btw, I talked with one of our SPCA's dog 'trainers' and they said she will grow out of it, but I'd rather be safe than sorry)
