USING A SIPHON 101
1 - Lower the whole thing in the tank, so it fills with water, with no air bubbles - including the wide 'vac' part and the tube
2 - Put your thumb over the tube end
3 - Bring the tube end out of the tank, still with your thumb over it, and put it in the empty bucket (the bucket must be lower than the tank)
4 - Let go with your thumb
HINTS:
- the lower you put the bucket, in comparison to the tank, the faster the water will siphon (and the more suction you'll get while you're vacuuming)
- the only reason you have to suck, when you're getting gas out of your car is because you can't dunk the whole tube in
lol. True - but I hated Fluid Mechanics at University, so I didn't want to start going into the details of differential pressures!joephys said:Its more about the height of the siphon hose opening to the top of the water level in the tank. Sorry to be picky, its just one of my things.
