eheim 2215 VS fluval 305. HELP?!?

Well i ended up going with the fluval 305 and love it. And the more i read, im also going to add an eheim 2215 because my tank is turning into a planted tank. So this way ill have the best of both worlds. an eheim and a fluval

cant be a fluval for price and ease of use, glad you like yours as well !

well i was extremely happy to come across this thread since im in the same situation........buuut i kinda wish one was supperior to the other thus making my decision easier...

so if there are any other opinions i would greatly appreciate them! :)

also...not a very wealthy kid so i dont have the option of getting both :b

the biggest difference from what i have read and all, is that with the eheim's, there is no way to bypass the media. The intake is at the bottom, and the output is at the top. Other than that, they seem to be pretty similar from what ive heard. I'm probably going to order mine next week, so once i get it ill put up a comparison on this thread for others in the same situation

no problem. what kinda tank and size do you want a filter for? and the only reason im getting two is because mine is planted, and i would prefer over filtration.

with those filters i was thinking a 46 bowfront

not even positive on fish yet :b
not doing a planted tank though....

and i can wait a while for answers....most likely wont start the tank for about a month....dont even have the tank yet...still looking for a good price on a used one before buyinng new. :b

:)

Its not them, It is what you Are comparing them too, Eheim is like a F1 car, Fluval is like a Civic.

:omg: I'm assuming that you are and Eheim fan.... ME TOO :22_yikes:!!!

I am sure that Eheim has some advantages over the Fluval in materials used, craftsmanship and perhaps hose flow. But the Fluval essentially has everything the Ehiem has In vertical stacked filter basket technology but in addition one very important advantage, the large surface area sponge pre-filter which relives the stacked portion of the filter from trying to be used for polishing which stacked basket filters with their small foot print were never designed to do well. The Fluval unlike the Ehiem can accommodate large surface area polishing pads around the sponges so that the baskets can do what they were really much better designed for and that is to treat the water using Chem & Bio high flow medias. This all IMHO of course.

yeah, i do like the idea of the four filter pads on my fluval. Its a good idea, but i think it allows for water to bypass some of the media, unlike the eheim's
